Okay so I just started watching Buffy after resisting it all these years what with college and all that interfering, and I’m really liking it. So today I was thinking about the guys on the show. I have very little interest in Angel, he’s way too brooding. Xander’s kinda fun; I like goofy guys. Spike has potential, but the guy I really like is Giles. He’s got just the right amount of goof and brains. And he can beat up demons when called to it. Still I’m not all sure his character was intended to be a sex symbol, especially for 22 year old girls. So anyone else got inappropriate crushes on TV characters?

Giles: Hmmm…Haloween, Cemetary, Fog on the ground…this should end well.
The other line from Giles which had me laughing out loud went something like this:

Drunk Giles is also funny.

It could be worse, you could have a crush on Xander and have to watch as he gets progressively heavier with each season.
No way. They’ve SOOOOO underused Giles in Buffy lately (not to mention hollowed out hsi character): they just have to have him stick around for any further projects (spinoffs, movies, etc.)
Is it just the character Giles on whom you have the crush, or the actor himself?

I definitely like Anthony Stewart Head, but the character’s personality is what really gets to me. Just as the other thread said, I like Rowan Atkinson as Black Adder but not as Mr. Bean mainly because he’s so sarcastic and cool acting(though he does have a better look in BA).

You could always watch ASH in the BBC show “Manchild” to see if it’s just the actor, or the character, that does it for ya.
I’ve had a crush on Giles since S1 - he caught my heart in the second episode - when he took care of Buffy when she was cursed.

I’ve been very interested in Giles since I started watching the show, and I know it’s the character rather than the actor since I have seen ASH in other roles where I didn’t find him particularly appealing.
Mind you, I’m not likely to kick ASH out of bed for eating crackers, either, but Giles is someone I’d really like to get to know, whereas ASH is more of a physical thing.
That would pretty much sum up my feelings, but hey, I even like ASH in the Taster’s Choice commercials so… :rolleyes:

Did you see ASH in an early episode of The Highlander that aired about a week or so ago on TNN?
I didn’t recognize his voice at first because it didn’t sound anything at all like when he plays Giles. He was MUCH younger then.
