On tonight’s show he trashed Donald Trump for the umpteenth time, and trashed NBC for letting him “hide behind” the network because of his apprentice show.
I think Trump will bluster to someone at the network, they will look at the tape and decide it is some from of disloyalty or insubordination, and fire O’Donnell.
Actually, I think this is fairly unlikely, but if it DOES happen, you heard it here first.
For those who may have missed it, O’Donnell’s specific charges were a) that NBC’s entertainment division is enabling a racist (Trump); and b) if The Apprentice has been renewed for another season, info the entertainment division apparently knows but has refused to release, this would be a clear indication that Trump is not serious about running for President. O’Donnell was therefore accusing NBC entertainment execs of covering up a legitimate news story.
O’Donnell’s even-more-bombastic-than Olbermann style is not really my cup of tea, but at least on b), I think he has a solid point. I’d be surprised indeed if he gets canned for last night’s statements, however.
Doesn’t really matter to me if it “does better”, I just wanted to get the prediction on record. That way I can crow about it if I’m right or pretend it never happened if I’m wrong.
Being that the airwaves are owned by the people, the FCC says that if a broadcast network gives broadcast time to one political candidate they must give (or at least offer) the same amount of time to his opponent(s). Even if the first guy is not doing anything political with his air time, such as hosting his own reality show or being a character in a show such as Fred Thompson on Law & Order.
NBC can’t give an hour a week to a Republican nominee without giving up hours to all the other candidates.
