My mom's not well.

She was on vacation. During that time, she collapsed, was hospitalized, and was told that her blood pressure is too low. Also, her knee gave way once. And she developed a cough. After flying home, I might add. No, she wasn’t flying internationally, but…

I dunno. I know what I’ve said about her in the past, but I don’t want to lose her. She’s 77. She’s long had heart problems. In fact, it’s hereditary. Is low blood pressure a death sentence?

Calm down. Uncontrolled fear makes things worse.

Her doctor is the better judge of this than us.

I wish her all the best.

I know lots of people with low blood pressure. They’re living perfectly normal lives.

However, her doctor is the one who needs to look at her overall condition and make sure her treatment is appropriate.

Hope she’s doing better soon.

Well, I just got an email from her. She seems okay. Thank you for responding.

Well thank heaves for that.

Yeah, but I didn’t think she was in grave danger this minute.

It was just such a punch in the gut to be thinking, “Well, she wasn’t flying internationally,” and then to hear her coughing. She didn’t pass through any international airports, though, and no major hubs. Also, she has a question about Typhoid Andy that I’m going to post in another thread. (She wouldn’t be showing symptoms right away anyway, right?)

Sorry to hear your mom is feeling unwell. As everyone says, the doctors who are treating her are the best source of information about what is going on with your mom specifically.
Speaking purely generally, it would be very unlikely for someone to show signs of illness from TB immediately after exposure.
Still, I understand how it feels to be worried and uncertain about a loved one’s outlook. Hope that she starts feeling better soon.
