My Name is Earl 10/11/07

But it’s objectively true that Joy IS a bitch. I think even Joy would agree with me. And you have a problem with that, but not Patty the Daytime Hooker?

By the way: for those noting the continuity flaws, Catalina’s Spanish dialogue was all about how yes, some of the events in this episode conflict with previously established show canon, but they don’t think the viewers are going to care.

So What Did Our Japanese Businessman Say?

Thank you, I have come to look forward to your translations. That is great.

I love the fact they use Catalina to break the 4th wall and talk directly to a small part of their audience.

Jim

I’m sure it was something direct to the audience, a la Catalina.

Oh – I didn’t do the translating! I read that over at Television Without Pity’s message boards, and it was referenced in their recap of this episode. I speak no Spanish, despite living in Texas all my life. I haven’t seen anyone translate what the Japanese businessman said yet.

I’m not very good, but here goes:

He speaks twice - the first time he says “A typical Japanese person would not be on this show, but my agent said it was a good idea”.

The second time I couldn’t make it out. A japanese co-worker said it sounded like a Chinese actor trying to speak Japanese. The best I can figure is he is making some sort of comment about Patty.

According to my daughter it was something along the lines of “Where are we? Get me out of here!”

BTW, Al Roker was referenced on both MNIE and **The Office ** tonight. Coincidence or conspiracy? Discuss.

I’m ashamed…what continuity flaws? I thought everything was pretty tied in.

Man this one was full of great lines. My favorite my have been the pregant Joy talking to her big stomach: “I got to find you a sugar daddy. Don’t be alarmed if some company pops in.”

“So Doctor, I don’t feel a ring on that finger”.

I was always wondering where that trailer came from… they don’t even own it!

“And the best part is, you can spit on the floor, and I don’t even mind!”

Lots of good stuff:

Randy “searching” Joy’s breasts at the prison.

Earl’s and Randy’s dad neglecting to tell them that he was having the exterminators pay a visit.

Catalina and her mom exchanging desperate glances as they stand around the box.

"You steal?
“You steal, too?”

I didn’t see how MNIE series continuity was contradicted at all; seemed pretty adroitly fitted in to me.

As I watched the ep, I thought of one contradiction to continuity, but for the life of me, I can’t think of what it was. I was going to watch it again, but I deleted it from the TiVo by habit.
