We got the backstory of how Joy and Earl met…apparently she was turned off by Randy licking a chalk cue.
I thought it was a cute episode. Joy came clean to Earl about all the nasty things she did to him, and still kicked Jessie’s butt. Ivylad caught that they played the theme to “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” when the ladies squared off.
The episode before it was one I missed, the one where Cataliina pole dances on a pool cue and Earl has to keep getting up earlier and earlier to try and make it up to a friend in jail, so I’m glad I caught it.
A really good episode. If you watch the first few episodes, it is amazing how much they have developed Joy’s character. She was cartoonish at first and now she is turning into a deeper character.
I like how Earl’s good deeds have forced those around him to think about their actions.
I loved how the Theme from the Good, The Bad and The ugly went into Kung-Fu fighting for the actual fight.
The Mad-Libs with Randy was funny.
I hope Juliette Lewis’ Character is a recurring character, it would allow for some interesting twists.
Seeing Crabman freaking out was fun. Man he needs to calm down.
Nitpick - the pre fight music was from For a Few Dollars More. It was the music from the locket that had a picture of Col. Mortimer’s (Lee van Cleef) murdered sister.
“The thing I didn’t know was that he wanted Joy’s shoes, and that I was the cute one.”
What bugged me was Joy’s voice when she told Juliette Lewis to get her own man…exactly like Whitley Gilbert’s on “A Different World” before she became less whiny. Must be the generic self-centered Southern woman voice.
I didn’t expect it to be a fight… I expected Jessi to still be a one punch chump… I did LOVE that she started immediately doing push ups as Joy and Earl drove away… I see round three coming up next season.
The gay homeless man was probably my favorite bit… although I knew who would be losing their shoes and who would be getting the hug the moment they said it… it still cracked me up.
Was Catalina even in this episode? Hopefully we’ll get a Catalina centric episode before the season ends.
I like that Bounty Hunters in this world are apparently always dressed for heavy assaults.
The trailer park Bounty Hunter alarm was genius.
Well, there’s no reason for Earl and Jessie to get back together is there? I mean, she’s mad at Joy, not Earl, and Earl and Joy are divorced now. Maybe a love triangle between Jessie and the College Professor Lady and Earl?
I dunno. That montage (“You gotta have a MONTAGE!”) of Jessie learning to be a one-woman ninja killing machine was pretty impressive.
I actually felt a little sorry for her. Joy stole Earl away from her, after all, made use of the Metallica tickets she’d given to Earl, and then unprovokedly knocked out two of her teeth in the bar. Yes, Jessie shouldn’t have used her authority (such as it is) as a bounty hunter to plan to kick Joy’s ass in retribution, but still…
I loved the training Montage. Two great references: “Lunatic Fringe” as the training music, just like in Vision Quest, and the karate instructor yelling “finish him” like in Karate Kid.
I took the “Finish him!” line as being from the Mortal Combat video game.
Jessie seemed nice before Joy stole Early and Joy is kinda bitchy so I was hoping Jessie would kick her ass. Instead, all she got was another huge dose of humiliation in front of Earl again.
