My Name is Earl -- 4/27/2007

Aaarrgghh! I missed the episode! What Happened? Please discuss!

I thought it was one of the better ones…Earl realizes he can’t get a credit card because he doesn’t have a job or a high school diploma and he lives in a motel. He tries to take the GED, but realizes he needs to go back to school.

When he arrives at Camden High, all the teachers are beaten down and defeated. He volunteers as a substitute, but the kids also walk all over him. And in what I think is the secret dream of many a public high school teacher, he rallies the teachers to pull the same pranks on the kids that the kids pulled on the teachers.

In the climax, a trick goes wrong and Main Goof Off Kid’s car explodes. The teachers are afraid they’re going to be arrested/fired, but Earl says as long as they play it cool, no one will know it was the them.

The kids are scared straight, Earl and Randy pass their GED, and the teachers find a new passion for teaching.

Why did Randy pour some of his chocolate milk on the pavement?

A slightly better episode that previously. I thought it interesting that the actor playing the school principal showed up on CSI that same night as a sheriff.

Crabman going off the deep end when asked why he was working at the Crab Shack was funny, as were the pieces of the coffee cup in the one teacher’s hand.

The chocolate milk is like pouring whiskey from the bottle on someone’s grave as a salute. I assumed that’s what it was; that he just didn’t spill it.

Yeah - the principal kissed his first two fingers and pointed them at the sky in a salute to his dead auto mechanics teacher. So Randy poured out some milk for him.

Did anybody else notice Randy taking all of ths coffee stirrers and things from the teachers’ lounge? And who else caught the “Mallrats” reference?

I noticed a banner for the Camden County High School “Fighting Quakers”. Their teams must really suck.

That sort of reminded me of the gesture Sammy Sosa does when crossing the plate after a home run.

There was a Mallrats reference?

When they first took the GED, Randy made a sailboat out of his Scantron answers. I was really hoping he’d say it was a schooner.
Ethan Suplee was the guy in Mallrats who couldn’t see the Magic Eye image.

A good episode, but after last week, just two scenes of fully-dressed Catalina isn’t enough for me.

Pouring one for my homies I almost wet my pants.
