My Name Is Earl 9.27.05

No, it was classic, I’m just easily confused and wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed something  .

Pam’s the receptionist. Meredith’s the one that Michael made the incredibly inappropriate comment to near the end.

Jim introducing the blow-up doll as his girlfriend was hysterical. “Honey? Put a shirt on!”

Between Earl and The Office, Tuesday nights are my favorite night of the week now.

E.

I’m confused about all the names too. Of course, I also saw the British original, where the characters are all more or less the same, but the names are all different.

Great choice to play Michael’s boorish buddy. Good to see Carell is pulling in his pals.

NBC won the night in 18-34, so that’s good for Earl, I guess.

Not the hit I’d hoped for, but worth keeping on the air (especially given that NBC has little else.)

I watched my first episode of Earl last night and found it lacking much entertainment value. I do like Jason Lee (he’s pretty much the only reason I tuned in) and thought this was an odd choice for him upon seeing the previews. My suspiciaons were confirmed last night. It just doesn’t work.

I watched it for the first time last night (while Tivo’ing TAR and taping House) and I’m instantly hooked.

“Jesus is my airbag” made me laugh out loud. And the ex-wife, so casually murderous…“what can I kill someone with that doesn’t take 3 days?” “everything in Aisle 4”. Priceless.

Ah, but for people who haven’t seen him in anything else (like me), it works pretty good.

Not evil…probably. But the dude’s got a tattoo of Jesus on his chest that he asks “what would you do?”, and one on his ass of Moses parting the Red Sea. If he had a six-figure income, he might qualify for “eccentric”, but as it is, I think’s he’s still a bit cuckoo.

Loved the ep., right up to the look of disappointment on Joy’s face when Earl told her he rewrote his will.

And I disagree that this is an odd choice for Jason Lee. Certainly more his style than a couple movies he’s done.

I’d love to see Earl backslide on the stop smoking thing. Especially if they do it on the sly. Like just show him smoking and not say anything.

If it’s wrong, I don’t wanna be right. My first thought after seeing that, after I stopped laughing my ass off, was if I could actually find it anywhere.

I’ll put it next to the Flying Spaghetti Monster emblem if I get one.

 Very funny. Made even funnier since Mom was played by Old Lady God from Joan Of Arcadia. I wonder if that bit of casting was intentional.

Finally got to watch it. Damn, Tuesday nights are just full up with good TV-watching. Yes, I need a life.
We didn’t see any of the Beer Can Tag from the first episode, which was probably good. If it’s in every episode, it’ll get old. But Beer Can Tag looks like fun!

Count me in with those who laughed out loud, while watching it alone. The Office was pretty good, too.

Well, he was crazy. Just not evil.

Not to keep hijacking but that episode of the Office had me literally howling with laughter. Michael’s boner line nearly killed me.

I think Tom Packer was a little too over the top. The beauty of the UKs version (Chris Finch) was that he was an asshole but still had a bit of charisma and was clever in a vulgar way. This guy was just boorish.

I like that they are giving Jim little victories with Pam. I don’t think Tim ever got anything for his troubles…not counting the Christmas specials.

I thought this episode was full of beautiful, subtle humor. Like when Donnie dropped the large-print (-nacle!!! Ha!) Bible in Earl’s lap and he sank just a bit as air hissssed out of the plastic couch covers.

“This is the sweetest, most justified kidnapping I’ve ever seen.”
“How many have you seen?”
“Four or five.”

(That really doesn’t seem very funny in print; it was all in the delivery.)

Frankly, I think the best part is when Jason Lee had to reiterate that the cookies were poisoned. That was just too hilarious.

I missed last week because of DVR malfunction (damn you!), but I just saw this week’s. What a hilarious show! With this, the Office, and House… I’ll have a lot to watch (and tape) on Tuesdays :D.

…and in the way Kathryn Joosten (“Donny’s mother”) registered alarm and disbelief. Some great acting from behind the rag-gag.
