My neighbourhood pub has finally recovered from covid

It’s an Irish-themed pub. Took a hit from Covid. But I’m sitting here having lunch and the place is packed. The Saturday session musicians are back! There’s step-dancers, specially for Christmas Eve-Eve. The crowd is clapping to the fiddle and the dancers. The barmaid (lovely lady who knows her patrons’ names) is run off her feet.

It’s taken a while.

That’s great to hear. The sessions around here have been in full swing for a while, but one of the better pubs never reopened after Covid and that session had to find a new home. I assume you’re a piper and your session would no doubt be even better with you joining in.

The Great Highland Pipes don’t play well with others. :grinning:

Especially indoors. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Most excellent news about the pub.

We have mostly pre-COVID normalcy around here commercially. Pubs, live music, etc. What’s still missing a lot is the more civic stuff. Parks & rec department classes, events at the library, in-person club meetings, etc.

For the government-funded stuff, it seems they’re just as happy to pocket the savings from not running the stuff they used to.

For clubs and organizations it seems lots of folks who used to do that stuff just aren’t. It’s now been almost 4 years since COVID started and about 2 since widespread vaccination and the end of general dread of widespread fatal plague. I’m not sure how much of that change is just folks near my demographic aging out, is a sign of the people who’ve died or been health-crippled, or who’ve been psychologically crippled, or just changing taste in how folks socialize. All of these are factors, and a dozen more.
