I got this little notebook the other day.

I got the Intel P4 Hyper threading 3.06 Ghz CPU, with the 80 gig 5600 RPM drive, 128MB NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600, 512 megs RAM, CDRW+DVD +RW, 1 IEEE 1394 firewire + 4 USB 2.0 ports and integrated MM card reader, and integrated wireless 54g, etc. etc. etc and of course the HUGE freakin’ 1440x 900 17" wide screen.

It’s less a portable notebook and more a “desktop replacement” This thing is a marvel. I just backed up 4.5 gigs of docs and image files on a burnable DVD in 20 minutes! The screen is amazing and is absolutely sharp as a tack. The high speed drive took a little longer to get but it’s worth it. I’m using it with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Best sound ever for a notebook.

Sounds nice. But your first line reminded me of that wonderful novel “Geek Love,” by Katherine Dunn. Might want to check it out to get a whole new meaning of the phrase.

I’ve read it. Mine is the true geek love. Albino dwarves and flipper boys have nothing on my love for my little (well as little as huge 9 lb notebook can be) baby.
