My new favorite shoes of all time

I just received these shoes and I will be marrying them in a private ceremony as soon as I finish ordering all the available colors.

These are mine:

Just got them over the winter to replace some Uggs that were falling apart, as usual. They are warm, waterproof, comfortable, and slide on easily. I keep them by the door for when I have to make a quick trip outside (e.g., to walk the dog), but I’ve walked for miles in them as well.

I’ve been buying Sperry Topsiders for years, although that’s misleading since they last so long. Leather, so they conform to your feet after a short break-in period, grippy soles, and slip-on. I use them for indoor shoes, as a toe stub can be a major issue for a diabetic.

I can’t wear topsiders* because I went to boarding school during the preppy fad of the late 70s. To me they represent the bullying class just as much as popped pink Polos and green chinos.

*Autocorrect prefers “top spiders,” which I’m ok with

I’ve used “top spiders” for the same purpose as my favorite shoes – slip them on to quickly get outside to walk the dog or whatever. My issue with them is that their sole is very grippy on some surfaces, but I find them slippery on wet, sloping grass, which my lawn and nearby parks have in spades.

Do they have any arch support or are they flat inside. Asking because I need arch support but am not keen on how most Birkenstock sandals look.

I buy the white canvas slip-on Topsiders every summer, because they’re cool even when it’s uncomfortably hot out.

I have extremely high arches and all my other shoes are birks. And I have the VERY expensive birk inserts for my winter Redwings. These are flat as the earth, so they’re going to be glorified slippers to save wear and tear on my birks.

(Autocorrect, either hilariously or ominously, prefers “virus” to “birks.”)

I offer you Duluth mocs. Nice support, comfy, high enough heel to wear in snow.

I used to buy Keen shoes that looked very similar. Keen shoes are very comfortable, with a wide toe box that doesn’t mash yer tootsies together. They were the only shoe that relieved my plantar fasciitis.

I’ve been in love with a pair of Rockports (Northfield Oxford) for almost a decade. I’ve worn my pair til the formerly-Business Casual have become comfy kickin’ around slip-ons.

But they look, well, crappy. And won’t cut it for a big event coming up.
I’d had them reconditioned before (for my kid’s wedding), but took them back to do that again the guy just shook his head. Said he could work on them, but it’d take two weeks and cost a hundred dollars.

Hey, for that money I could try to find a new pair…

The place where I’d bought them hadn’t carried them in years, but I called up a local landmark, The Shoe Box. Yep, they still had them, and they were cheaper than before. They put them aside (for a week!), and I could drop by and try them on outside if I wanted.

Now I’m thinking I should buy a half dozen pairs…

Oh my god. I’ve been looking for these shoes forever.
Crocs gotta go

Hoo, I know about those. I use green Superfeet inserts that work for my boots. They are cheaper, but not by a lot. Even my slippers are actually a pair of Birks because of the arch support they offer. I just can’t do flat.
