My New Favorite Thing on the Internet

I recently discovered the show, released in webisode format, called The Guild. The show is about a group of people who play a generic MMORPG and the various situations they find themselves in, whether in real life or online.

I’m not much of a gamer, although I did play a lot of D&D for a while in high school. Still, this show cracks me up. The character interactions are all great.

I enjoy the Guild, too. Great series!

Since it’s primarily about gaming, I’m going to move your thread over to the Game Room, where it will get more attention from that crowd.

If you liked “Codex”, played by Felicia Day, you may like Dr. Horrible’s Singalong Blog, featuring her as Penny. Neil Patrick Harris stars as Dr. Horrible, the not-terribly-super-villain who can’t manage to talk to her without making a fool of himself, and Nathan Fillion plays Captain Hammer, the buff jerk superhero who makes him miserable whenever possible.

Day said that she’d gotten so addicted to World of Warcraft that she felt she had to get something good out of the experience, and created The Guild.

looks at how many posts I’ve made in the WoW threads here Frankly, I’m too nervous to watch it as I fear it’d be too much like my own life. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool!

If you don’t want to watch the show, maybe you’ll watch this awesome music video: Do You Wanna Date my Avatar, starring the cast of The Guild. Talk about a catchy song!

Cool, just watched the first “season” without having ever played a MMORPG, and it’s still really funny and surprisingly well-written for a web show. Wish the episodes were longer. And, uhm, Codex is hotter than any WoW player I’ve ever seen.

Thank you! This is great! I watched the first few minutes and then bought season 1 from Amazon (before I realized all the episodes were so short).

And yeah, Codex is way cute =D If she represented even 1% of WoW players, wow, I’d… wow… I’d… I’d just… wow. Yeah.

I’ve actually known one girl about as hot who played a MMORPG (Everquest), but she was far more socially hostile and withdrawn. Never stopped her from always having a (gamer) boyfriend, though.

Great to see all the responses here!

I’m anxiously awaiting Season 3. It was apparently released exclusively to Xbox Live Customers a few days ago, and will be forthcoming for the general public in the near future.

Sweet, between this and Angry Video Game Nerd, I feel like I can be a supergeek immersed in the videogame subculture without even playing most of the games referenced therein! YES!
