Yup, it’s springtime here in da UP… and springtime in da UP means LILACS. The town is FULL of 'em. They’re not quite ready, but should be in their full glory next week. Regardless, Mr. Athena brought me up some sprigs to put on my desk, and the WHOLE ROOM now smells of LILACS.
I love the smell of lilacs. My grandparents had a huge lilac tree? bush? in their yard when I was a kid. They had lily of the valley too, and I love their scent so much I wear lily of the valley perfume.
Unfortunately, here in Jersey, there are no lilacs, at least not close enough to my home or office for me to smell them. No, sadly, my office, for reasons I have yet to unearth, and I’m not entirely sure I want to, has smelled strongly of dirty sweat socks lately. Wanna trade?
Lilac are nice. Pity I’m one of those hayfever suffers for whom a pollen count above 3 spells bad news. But lilacs, and all pretty flowers are nice. I like lillies and roses.
Biblophile, have you left your gym-bag lying in a covered corner?
