My official "I'm retired now" thread. A medical Retrospective

Congratulations! Are you retired or retired from medicine or…? I ask because I think a lot of people keep working or volunteering or whatever, often just to stay sharp or stay connected. Again, congrats!

Congrats! I hope your have many happy years of retirement. And please regale us with stories from your new hobbies, once you decide what they are.

Congrats on your retirement, @Qadgop_the_Mercotan! I’ve always enjoyed reading your posts, and hope you continue to stick around the SDMB. I also hope you find some fun and interesting hobbies going forward.

Congratulations! I am 8 months behind you. I expect and am looking forward to any early retirement wisdom you may share.

My philosophy is that I will not be retiring from something, I will be retiring toward something.

Best of luck,

mmm

Congratulations on your retirement. I hope you will be able to spend more time with us here.

Congrats on getting out when it suited you, and having had a career where you felt that you made a positive difference in people’s lives.

Congrats, QtM! May you have many healthy years to enjoy your retirement!

Congratulations on serving 20 years and out!

I’ll virtually tie 100 yellow ribbons round the old oak tree for you!

Congratulations! My sister retired a couple months ago and sent me a picture of her first Social Security check, which she framed and hung up.

You done good. Now take a break. I recall your comments when I was trying to get my son sober, and I appreciated them. It didn’t work out in the end, but the support was nice to have.

Seconded. Congrats, and may the prison system’s loss be the SDMB’s gain!

Congrats on becoming a physician emeritus! Is Mrs. Mercotan also retired? Hoping you get more fun time with the fam.

Congrats from a fellow retiree. Never regret the decision and enjoy all the little things. Use the time to learn something new (I recently picked up sewing on a real sewing machine) and see some of the world you have never seen before. And on those days you feel like doing nothing, those make a perfect day.

Congratulations on retiring, and congratulations on your sobriety! What’s your sobriety date? Mine’s November 1 1986.

Congratulations!

I hope you already have hobbies waiting for you (I seem to remember something about a house?) and to see more posts from you.

And I am just a month behind that, so also interested in how it goes for you both. Dollar is unusually strong against the Euro now, so cheese trips are possible.

And I like the idea of the Dope having a traveling physician, even if it is only for Beck. To be fair, she’ll be a handful just by herself.

Congrats, but you’re not gonna have time to get everything done you want to get done.

It’s still better than work, though.

Enjoy.

I’m a bit over two years into my retirement. Welcome to the club. Very well deserved.

Congrats!! :tada:

And thank you for a very readable, very interesting OP.

Congrats on your retirement! I have read your posts with interest for some years, so it was interesting to get a bit of the background story. Thanks for sharing it with us.
