My Old Monitor (Dec'd)

Quite a while back I bought a flat screen 19" monitor 'cos my old one was a bloody dinosaur and took up most of my work station.

I tried to GIVE the old one away, It was in perfect working order but not a soul wanted it. not even my pals who have farting little 15" jobs

I phoned the recycling people and they wouldn’t collect and I couldn’t lift the bugger…sooooo…

Today I took it apart. Holy crap what a job that is, screws everywhere and no matter how many I unscrewed the blasted thing just wouldn’t come apart.

A lump hammer solved the problem in about 10 minutes, reduced the bastard to a mangled heap of plastic and other assorted components.

4 bin liners later it had been taken to the recycling plant and I’m knackered…I’m getting to old for all this exercise

I have had a lot of success in getting old monitors, as small as 15" CRTs to either seniors or churches. Next time you have such a problem inquire among any seniors you know that live in senior communities. If you know anyone active in their church you can make the same inquiries.

I have had over 20 monitors get reused instead of recycled through either my father or one of my co-workers that is very involved in her church programs.

My basement has become a dumping ground for old monitors. I seem to be everyone’s go-to person for both giving and receiving monitors. Too bad we don’t live closer chowder, I would have taken it. I owe you one anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Up until a couple weeks ago I had TWELVE monitors in my basement - not to mention the three in service upstairs here.

I gave 7 of them to the local school district. My mom works there so I only had to load them into her car and the IT guys removed them - and I get a receipt from the schools for $25 apiece for tax deduction. One went to my boyfriend’s buddy and the other 4 are still here for backup.

I’m expecting to get a new CRT for my collection (one of my old ones coming back to me) shortly as my aunt just got a new flat screen.

I tell ya - if you’ve got the room, having a huge cache of CRTs is not such a bad thing. It doesn’t make you any money or anything but it’s nice to be able to help folks out who need monitors in a pinch.
