Altavista has been my trusty internet provider ever since I freed myself from the shackles of AOHell. Now I need a new supplier for my internet fix. Any suggestions?

I hear ya, StGermain. I used AltaVista too… FirstUp owned a bunch of the free ISPs so that sucks. NetZero won’t work on my machine for some reason. I’m stuck with BlueLight, which crashes and refuses to recognize my username and password… sigh

I thought I was the only one with an identity crisis. Yep - BlueLight sucks in a major way. Excite runs off of Spinway, too.

Another miserable BlueLight user here. Juno effectively kicked me off for using it too much. I use a free provider at work, since we have DSL at home, but I’m thinking of actually shelling out the 9 bucks a month for an ISP so I don’t have to deal with the Spinaway crap any more.

What happened? Did some free isp go under?

OpalCat - Altavista was run by a company called 1stUP. They went under as of the 10th. Spinway, which runs BlueLight (K-Mart’s free service) and Excite and B&N.com and Costco.com, is crap. So I’m stuck either sucking it up and paying for a service or not getting good service. An example of getting what you pay for, I guess.
