Yeah, same here.

Yeah, same here.

According to catsix’s link … you use your finger for a Dirty Sanchez?
I have been grossly misinformed.
It seems fairly clear she stole his checks from his checkbook while cleaning, then wrote them out and mail them to pay for things.
[sub]Can’t fucking believe I spent my 3000th post on something this stupid.[/sub]
I would also like to know how you failed to notice $6k out of your account at a time when you were unemployed, and apparently in debt. Also, do your canceled checks not come back to you in your monthly statement? Something doens’t smell right here…maybe it is the dirty Sanchez?
Yeah, but how would she be able to get to his check book-and why wouldn’t he notice checks missing-don’t you balance your check book?
Or write anything down in it?
Having pondered this thread for a few more minutes, I would like to amend my first post. Bruce_Daddy you are either an idiot who should have a guardian apointed by the court to deal with your affairs or you are full of shit. I don’t buy this story at all.
It’s clear he wasn’t nearly as vigilant as he ought to have been. Still, I probably wouldn’t notice checks missing from my checkbook either, because I pay almost all of my bills online and very rarely write checks. I’ve also gone through periods where I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to my balance, as long as it wasn’t overdrawn.
I keep my balance electronically, not in a paper register (yes, I do back it up frequently) and am prompted for sequential check numbers. I also only write checks about twice a month, and I could very easily not notice a missing check for that time. If she were cleaning MY house, my checkbook is not in a strongbox, she could get it without much effort, in violation of the trust I had given her. I do, however, check my balance online every few days, but I have not always been so diligent.
I’m like Geobabe in that respect, plus some people’s banks don’t send the cancelled checks to them - they might only send photocopies of pages with multiple checks per page, or only send on request. I know Bank One does that, for instance. I also went through a period of employment and then unemployment where I had a lot of money saved up in checking, and fell out of the habit of balancing my checkbook or looking into my balance closely. By chance, I happened to notice an automatic withdrawal to my (what I thought was) former ISP - turns out they’d never cancelled my service and had been charging me for the past two years. Mind you, a few hundred dollars over two years is much less than what’s going on in this case, but I can see how it could happen. (They were nice enough to reimburse me, after they looked at my records and saw that I hadn’t accessed the account at all the entire time.)
It’s not a wise thing to do, to not balance your checkbook, but people get complacent sometimes.
Bruce_Daddy, I am certainly not excusing what she did, and you deserve justice, but WTF? Hell, with online banking these days, I balance may check book several times a month because I am a single parent eeking out a living! You had self-described money problems but apparently didn’t even open a bank statment for at least 10 months? Hon, if you think that’s “money problems”, then you need to come live with me for a month. But bring your own groceries cuz I cain’t afford ta feed ya. Hell, that gal stole from you what would be about 6 or 7 of my paychecks!
Press charges against her, and insist that she punished to the maximum extent of the law.
But, just before that, fuck her good for one last time just for old times sake.
Nice one, Blalron. Heh.
Reminds me of a joke I once heard:
What’s the difference between paying for sex and sex for free?
Sex for free costs more.
[Homer Simpson]
It’s funny because it’s true!

That being said, yeah, throw that bitch in jail.
I sit in amazement with the other dopers who wonder how you could not notice $6k over 10 months. I agree that she’s a wanker for stealing from you.
HOWEVER, to continually fuck someone you don’t care about, and then to let this person clean your house for free for months, and to expect no repercussions… well, you’re amazingly naive. Did you think she was doing it because she just LOVES to clean? Or was your ego so overbloated that you thought your drunken romps in the sack were worth a few thousand dollars worth of free cleaning? Did you ever wonder about the emotional and mental state of this woman?
Had a guy I’d dated casually a few times offered to come over weekly and cut my grass for free, I’d tell him no. Because if I had no interest in a relationship with him, it would be taking advantage of an imbalance in power. And that’s just a crappy thing to do.
In short, I hope you get your $4k back. That would be $6k less the estimated $2k in cleaning she was providing to you.
Guess it’s true. A fool and his money are easily parted.
I mean, 6k, over a year, using your own cheque book, while money was tight, and you only just noticed??? On top of the cleaning services you were happy to take for free? And the sexual favours? What, you think you’re that irresistable?
At least you know why she never said no to sex though
Where did people get the idea that she was cleaning up for free? The OP says he did pay her.
From the OP:
PunditLisa, hit the nail on the head. You do not let people who you do not care about do favors for you. Everyone–even people with OCD–have ulterior motives. And cleaning somebody’s funky apartment is not exactly an activity people do for fun.
And man. You must have been pretty well off to not notice the gradual loss of thousands of dollars. I don’t balance my books either, but I occasionally look down at my ATM receipts, just to make sure they square with my expectations. If you were spending money so crazy that you wouldn’t miss six hundred dollars a month (on average), there’s a lesson in this for you.
That said, that sucks about the money-grubby hoochie. Her stealing ass needs to be in jail.
He didn’t pay her since last december, so she kind of paid herself, which I, for the record, think she should be punished for.
OTOH I think exploiting a girl for cleaning/sex is also detestable.
