For the past week I’ve been experiencing computer problems. This is nothing abnormal I realise but the nature of this problem has taken on soap opera proportions.
Last week I had serious computer problems. They culminated in not even being able to turn it on. It seemed like the switch had died on my computer. Lots of poking around on our behalf didn’t fix it so into the shop the next day where a gentleman charged me $25 to fix it. Get it home eager to feed my famished net addiction only to be slung back into the pit of despair as it began booting up only to turn itself off seemingly powerless. We had some electrical problems at the same time but they seem coincidental now. Anyway then we suspect the powerpack, so more stuffing around with a new powerpack but the problem remains. Tho now it sometimes begins booting up for five to 15 seconds before doing the Marcel Marceau thing (not pretty on a computer either).
Back to the shop where the guy (after three hours of poking around) declares that it’s probably a motherboard problem. As it’s only two months old I bundle it back and take it back to the shop where I bought the guilty component. Salvation beckons!!
Ahh but the only thing worse than despair is rekindled hope that is dashed once more. Yes, they will look at the motherboard. Yes, it is still under warranty. Yes, it sounds like the motherboard is the source of anguish. They’ll send it to the company straight away.
What’s that? When can you have it back? Oh well it’s very, very busy atm. And added to that is the fact they’re closing down for two weeks over Christmas shortly… and you’ll probably get it back mid January. No, we don’t do loaners or replacements until we’ve established that the motherboard is indeed at fault.
Mid-January?
You have got to be kidding.
Anyway the short version of this all too long story is that until I find a loaner or buy a new one (an idea I’m opposed to on principle atm) my net apearances will remain sporadic.
This is just a quick fly-by to update you on the Evil Bitch Tour and thank the few who missed me enough to send concerned emails. You wonderful ladies know who you are. Thanks - the warm feelings have managed to temporarily keep the addiction demon at bay (so far).
Hope I haven’t missed much. Feel free to write. I’ll try and stop by as often as possible. Should be a reg again in a week or so (I hope).
Oh and Demo’s in charge btw. Make sure you call him sir…
I’m sending lots of hugs to you, sweetie. Not just because of the computer issues, but also because I like to hug on you. Well, I’m REALLY just trying to grab your ass, but you say potato…
dpr, my sweetie. That explains why you didn’t answer my last 2 emails. Tsk! Tsk! And no comment on the pics I sent you either. Well, I’ll be looking out for you, and hope to hear from you soonest. Good luck with the 'puter challenges.
I love you, my friend. Take care, and be well.
{{{{{{dpr}}}}}} lots of smooches too.
And, Demo, since you’re in charge, does that mean I get to come sit on your desk and distract you from your work with my lowcut blouses? Oh, and don’t tell psycat, 'k? Of course, she seems to have enough to worry about, with all of those odd ‘accidents’.
<please tell me you know I’m only kidding you two. Love ya both>
Tonight I managed to scrounge an old box. I don’t care if it’s slow - I just need to feed the addiction that by now is ravenous. Just a net connection for god’s sake!!!
So got the box, started connecting wires feverishly only to be thwarted again. Amongst other things it needs a serial mouse. That’s almost antiquated. And do you think that amongst our ridicuously large stockpile of computer components we have a serial mouse?
Of course not.
But I’ll get one. Or another box. Or hijack a net cafe…
I will overcome.
