My screen name on the SDMB or "how cool will I be with THIS rockin' screen name!?"

yeah - link, link!!!

 (<- Click on Smiley for link)

Thanx Capt - Who knew HBT was 13! Hilarious link - - poor Giraffe - - what’s w/the eating out of the toilet about though? Anyone have THAT link? You all are so willing to offer up dirt on each other to a newbie - - great fun!!

Giraffe’s challenge.

Ms. Macphisto said she got that tag from Bono’s alias. I believe Bono lifted it from a funny, but forgettable movie. If I remember, it was called Candy, and was based on Terry Sothern’s sexy novel. One of Candy’s many seducers was rewritten as Macphisto, a horny, drunken, Welsh poet. Macphisto was played, over-the-top, by horny, drunken, Welsh actor Richard Burton. It was a hoot. “Neeeeeeeeeeeed!”

Hey! I wondered what happened to DanielWithrow! I must have missed the name change announcement. When I first sawLeft Hand of Dorkness I thought it was very clever, but never realized it was someone I already sort of knew.

 How did a thread about usernames turn into a biography of my SDMB misdeeds?

::re-reads thread::

Oh. I see. It’s a pretty natural progression, really. Good show.

Ahem.

My username is related to neither my fetish for 13-year old girls nor my proclivity for toilet cuisine, but merely the fact that I’m tall and think giraffes are sort of cool. Maybe someday I’ll change it to Toilet Pedophile or something.

People tent to think mine is christian. It’s not. I’m not.

Or they think it’s a skin-care product (That’s St IVES, duh)

If you don’t understand it, you haven’t had enough fun, and you’re too highbrow for my liking.

My name is the most ghetto 40 of malt liquor to ever hit the streets.

Giraffe, that’d be Toilet Ephebophile. Unless you haven’t been telling us about all your misdeeds?

I should probably get to work on a supercool origin story about how I was struck by divine inspiration, so I can use it for the next thread like this.

I like bananas. And I drink a lot. And I can’t spel.

Cool, I didn’t know that. I’ll keep that movie in mind next time I’m really stuck for something to rent at the video store.

And Giraffe, sorry about turning this thread into a rehash of all your on-board misdeeds, but I am the devil you know.

OMG - I’ve been laughing my a** off reading the last several posts. Thanks Ms Macphisto for the link and scoop on Giraffe. HILARIOUS! I’m dying…I gotta go breathe…

Keep it comin’ - even if it is dishing up old stories. As a newbie I dig it!! Thanks for the entertainment!

Yogini

Sweet jesus. I used to think I could match wits with any poster on this board, but I know when I’m outgunned. Fear, thy name is toast.

The real Nurse Carmen in '59 and in '75. This page has an audio link of what I think is an entire '50s episode, complete with in-show commercial.

Mine is two-fold. First, it was a nickname I earned by screwing up and somebody said something like “What was the glitch?” and the other person pointed at me.

Also, it is the name of my favorite character from a kids TV show called ReBoot; which, I started watching because somebody told me there was a character called Glitch. I like the show and have Season 3 on DVD… what I want to know is where are the Season 1, 2 and 4 DVDs??? And what the heck was with the ending of Season 4!!! Come on, you can’t toy with me like that!

Mine has simply evolved over time.

Long ago, back in the prehistoric age that was the '80s, I used to belong to a discussion list for which I used my initials: jr.

I continued to use said initials for a while in various web contexts until at some point I was required to identify myself with a moniker of at least three characters. Reluctant as I was to insert my middle initial (because I’m not overly fond of my middle name), I decided to just tack on a number at the end. “jr1” looked too obvious and puerile, “jr2” just looked like I’d wanted “jr1” and it was taken, and so I landed on jr8 as I thought it had a certain consonance to it. And it was as jr8 that I initially registered here.

After a few years, I found myself tiring of the name. I noticed that it tended to get overlooked, and that the few people who tried to pronounce it came up with a variety of strange versions of it, some of which I liked and some of which I didn’t. So I asked the lovely TubaDiva to change it to one of the attempted pronunciations that took my fancy, and thus Gyrate was born.

Plus of course I’m a bit twisted, so it suits me rather well.

OTOH, if, way back when, I’d actually used my middle initial, you’d probably be reading a post from Jabber right now, a name which doesn’t fit my soft-spoken ways at all. So it’s all worked out for the best.
