Where does one find a reasonable selection of shoelaces anymore? DSW carries 6 colors, all the same length. Target had 5 to choose from (with two empty hooks). None suitable.
Driving around spending time and gas searching for such a necessary but trifling item is frustrating. A couple years ago I ended up ordering laces online. They were plain old brown laces.
I found the hooks almost completely empty when Pandemic lace shopping at Walmart & Target. All they had were weird colors or, I forget, something like Shrek patterned ones. I just needed plain black ones for dress shoes and wound up buying them on Amazon.
Note for those with foot pain: I switched to elastic laces a few years ago and they’ve been a lifesaver. They have them for dress shoes, too – I-beam-shaped pieces of elastic that you fit into each pair of eyelets.
(I know, “What are dress shoes? I haven’t worn those in 18 months…”)
You can also purchase extra long laces with aglets you put on yourself: cut to fit, attach the aglets, and you’re off. The aglets work with parachute cord and other lace-like cords
I had a pair of shoes and a pair of hiking boots that needed new laces. I gave up on trying to find what I needed in stores - if I was lucky enough to even find the style I was looking for, they were never the right length. I wound up buying a couple pairs for each on Amazon and they were perfect.
