2 other LARGE limbs have since fallen also. One brushing our gutter (and denting) as it fell. There are still sizable limbs left and very strong gusty winds. Our next door neighbor (elderly lady) is right in the path of some of the remaining limbs.
We just had a tree guy/arborist come out tonight. He took a look around. His best guess is that the remaining limbs should stay until the morning. In the morning we’re having them take the rest down and haul it off. We talked this all over with our neighbor as well…I asked her to avoid her living room until the morning(which is the area that would be in the path). Her bedroom & bathrooms are far away from any fallpath.
She seemed fine with that plan…the tree guy seemed fine with that plan…I’m “mostly” fine with that plan. :sigh again:
To further crank up the irony meter, I’ve been suffering really painfull headaches the past few weeks. Have not have much succes with any Rx so far prescibed, so have an MRI scheduled for Monday night.
Oh, and that would be on TOP of the sinus headaches that haven’t responded to augmentin…so sinus surgery June 10th.
I know I never made it over for the recipe but if you guys need any clean up help let me know and I can bring the older heathens over to do some of the lighter stuff.
I was in the ER when it hit last night and in bed through most of it today.
We didn’t get any damage but our neighbors lost shingles. My hubby is a roofer if you need anything patched quick or your neighbor. I have a feeling once the winds die down sometime tomorrow that Scott is going to be very busy.
We have a few elderlies that we help out around here as well and wouldn’t mind helping yours out.
Before I left work last night to go to the ER I got a phone call from Aubreigh (youngest heathen) she was worried about me being in the storm and not being home where she could see me and know I was safe.
Any word from our Mod Squad across the river? I’m not sure how many other Iowa/Quad City dopers there are anymore. But I am keeping my fingers crossed that all are safe.
You know I was commenting to my mother in law the other day how we always get bad weather on mothers day. That and the past few I have spent in the hospital for one reason or another.
The limbs stayed up through the night. The tree removal process went well. The above photo is after most of the exisiting fallen limbs had been removed, the final limbs and trunk were then pulled down.
I’m grateful that nothing bad happened during the night. Now comes insurance adjustors. What circle of Dante’s Inferno do they occupy?
A good friend of mine is an Arborist, performing the same kind of service as you’ve just had. He says he’ll be driving down the road and people will see the sign on his truck and start flipping him off for no good reason. Apparently these folks think he’s some kind of a travelling Abortionist.
WTF? He’s got drawings of trees on the sign, not little fetuses!
