My son has strange viewing habits

My eight-year-old son, Halford the Human Eel, is inexplicably attracted to two television shows. They aren’t even kids’ shows. They’re game shows on PAX-TV; Supermarket Sweep and Shop Till You Drop.

Now, game shows are, by nature, completely retarded anyway, but these are even sub-par on the intelligence level. Brain-damaged squid could answer the questions, and the stunts involved are juvenile and demeaning. Even the most hateful, twisted junior high class clown wouldn’t come up with these things. I can’t bear to be in the room when these abominations are airing.

I’ve asked him why he enjoys these shows, and he replies with what is, to him, implacable logic: “I like it!”

What’s the attraction? And is he going to grow out of this? Soon, I hope? Anyone else familiar with these idiotic game shows?

I used to like Supermarket Sweep when I was a kid. I think the hook was that I’d imagine doing the same thing, but in a toy store.

Yup. My eight-year-son likes them too. As a matter of fact, he’s watching “Shop 'Till You Drop” even as I post this message.

Is anyone else as sick of hearing commercials for “Judas” as I am?

Eight-year*-old* son. I previewed too.

I used to watch the show as well when I was a kid (age 8 in 1968 if you wanna know). It was also paired with “Treasure Island,” in which people raced over this theme-park sized stretch of land to reach the buried treasure.

Can’t tell you why I liked the show, except maybe that it was a game show, and it was funny watching people race-ass throughout the store, dumping stuff into their buggies.

::starts spasming::–And–::jerk::it hasn’t twip affected stutter me any. drool

I used to watch those shows, too.

Then I grew up and started watching Spongebob Squarepants.

When I was that age, I would go to my grandmother’s house and watch game shows (“The Price Is Right”; “Concentration”; “Hollywood Squares”; etc).

all shows on pax are cheesy and annoying.
however.
(i watch supermarket sweep and shop till you drop too.)

i draw the line at “doc,” though. giving billy ray cyrus his own show - what were they thinking?!
