My Tommy Hillfigger Pillowcases

you know what I’m talking about. You have one. I’m not any crazier than you. I could be you, you could be me, we could be one, and that wouldn’t make three.

They’re my Tommy Hillfigger Pillowcases. Two of them. The cases are still packaged. I have owned them packed for two years now. I thought about opening the package and putting them over some pillows today. But I didn’t.
It didn’t seem right. My life needs to be in balance before they can come out. Something is still missing, that balance is not yet there. Maybe it will never be there. Maybe they will remain forever packaged. Shrink wrapped till my death.

Do you have something like that? A small obsession, something that for whatever reason you keep, treasure, do not use. maybe you don’t. maybe I’m alone. all alone…

…with my Tommy Hillfigger Pillowcases.

Well, I could never, would never, have never and will never own anything by Tommy Hilfiger, much less pillowcases, but I do have my own little lowerclass bedclothes that I can’t use yet.

Tie-dyed t-shirt material sheets.

I bought 'em at Wal*Mart with my own money, and they were $25 which is almost 35% of my weekly take-home pay so it was a big deal for me. Anyway I wanted to put them on my bed but I coudln’t put them on my bed until my bed was made, and I can’t make my bed until my room is clean, and my room won’t be clean until I take out all this crap, and I can’t take out all this crap until I have someplace to put it, and I won’t have someplace to put it until I get my own apartment, so basically those things are staying in the wrapper until I find my own place to live.

I left out a crucial part of the story.

I also, would never, could never, shant ever purchase anything from TH. These were given to me by an ex-girlfriend. She got them free from work.

oldscratch, what a neat idea. Yeah, I do have something like that.

A really nice briefcase I bought at the Maryland Renaissance Fair this past fall. Oh, it’s boss, that briefcase! Handmade, beautiful dark brown leather. Brass rivets and buckles. Nice long strap. Plenty of room for my goodies. Feels like it’s still alive, all supple and smooth.

I just can’t bring myself to use it, primarily because it’s just too pretty and new and stuff, which is silly. Leather goods like that look even better with use, but I just can’t take it out into the hard, cold world with me.

I have a beat-up canvas briefcase that I use on a regular basis that will never wear out, so I use that and keep the leather briefcase in the closet and look at it lovingly and pat it on its little back every once in awhile.

Sigh!
