See, a while ago, I had a filling drop out of a molar. No biggie, really. I mean, no pain or anything. But I went to the dentist recently to have it checked out. She said I needed root canal on the tooth. Oh well.
Still, it wasn’t causing me pain or anything, so I went about my life happy and carefree.
Then, last evening, somehow, the remains of the tooth chipped, leaving a jagged edge. Still no pain in the tooth, but now my tongue rubs against it all the time. I can’t swallow without the side of my tongue abrading against the rough edge of the tooth.
I was reading aloud to my family last night (we’re almost finished with the first Harry Potter book), and I was in agony. My tongue is being turned into hamburger.
And I probably won’t have time to get to my dentist before Monday.
Go to the drugstore. In the dental section, you should find dental wax - this is stuff that people with braces use to keep their braces from tearing their lips up.
The other night I bent over to pet the dog and the dumb shit thought it would be a good time to jump straight up in the air. Smashed his skull into my jaw and cut my tongue to ribbons. Finally starting to feel better today.
Oh, wait a minute…Maybe your wife could kiss it ? Yeah, might THAT be a better idea?
On a practical note, if you don’t want to buy some of the dental wax, you could just sand the jagged edge a tiny bit…if you don’t get crazy with the sandpaper, it shouldn’t cause any further damage and will prevent any further damage to your tongue.
No kidding. Went through 6 years of braces and lots and lots of tounge shredding. Wax helps untill your tounge builds the callus, then it dosn’t hurt so much at all. But I fully sympathize. Ouch!
My tounge hurts too, but that my own idocracy, stuffing the last bite of sandwich in my mouth before jumping (literally) into a ballet rehersal. I thought I bit off the tip of my tounge. But it just bled a little and is now annoyingly swollen so that I just bite on it more.
