Not so much that you’d notice by looking, except that the sides, where it rests against the teeth, have minor sweelings where it might be pushing through thte gaps in my teeth.
The sides feel tender and so does the very center, as though I’d burned it, except I havent’.
Fresh fruit sometimes causes my tongue to feel this way, especially things that are acidic or may not be completely ripe. Pineapple does it to me the worst, as does some green apples and strawberries.
My tongue always does this after I eat crusty bread, because of the abrasion I guess. And I always have scallops along the side of it, where it presses my teeth.
I had this same problem one time and was told it was probably due to dehydration. Every once in a while, it happens again and I drink a bunch of water, which usually works. IANAD. YMMV.
To make you feel better, I truly wish my tongue was just sore and kinda swollen.
I was at the Dentist’s yesterday getting a broken filling replaced and when she asked me to clamp down on the paper to measure the height of the filling, I managed to clamp down on my tongue, as well.
As my tongue was completely frozen I didn’t feel it but I knew something was wrong when she pursed her lips and made the “oooh, that’s gotta hurt” look. Everyone makes that look at one time or another but it’s disturbing on a whole new level when a doctor makes it. After assuring me that it wasn’t bleeding and that I didn’t do any major damage, she admitted that it was going to be very “uncomfortable” when the freezing wore off.
Holy crap, was that an understatement! I can barely speak at the moment, eating is an ordeal and I barely slept last night. I’m planning on doping myself up with codeine before bedtime tonight and hopefully get some sleep.
On the plus side, it’s certainly taken my mind off my tooth.
