I’m pretty pissed! My tongue is always getting damaged. No matter what I do, I end up the tastbuds that are hurt and swollen…(the ones you get after you bite or burn your tongue). It’s an everyday thing, and no matter how careful I am… the mother still hurts in numerous bud placements. Anyway, any idea what to do? Any remedies that will help? Most importantly, anything I can do to help my current pain?
Less, but still, importantly:
Do I just have a sensitive tongue? I have VERY good oral hygiene, (Jean says “hi” back by the way)… could this be a problemb?
It’s getting to me, and before I put Scooby-Doo on the case, I’ll try you good people. BTW, my tongue is not… umm, …um, -“Sexually active”. My tongue, um… well, it’s waiting for the right gal. It’s a bit of a prude. So it’s not anything that was transmited that way. Oh man, that quite nasty… Sorry about that folks.
Yeah, I have the same problem. The braces don’t help either. After I eat I have to work my tounge around and get all the food out of the little brackets. Sometimes I injure my tounge in the process, then have to dig about in those pointy little metal bastards with a tounge screaming out in pain. Good times. So, no. I don’t think it’s you. Have you tried gargling with warm salt water? That always takes the edge off a bad mouth boo-boo.
Because I do, and it sound like something similar to what you’re going through.
The article I linked to talks about children, and I’ve been told you’re supposed to grow out of this condition, but I never have (I’m 28 and have had it ever since I was a little kid).
I think it’s actually an allergic reaction, since there are certain things that will trigger it every time. For me, one of those things is not quite ripe bananas - if they’ve got any green on them I’ll develop detailed diagrams of the NYC subway system on my tongue- unless I’m actually in NYC, in which case I either get BART or London Underground diagrams. It’ll be a bit raw for a couple of days and feels just like I’d burnt them.
Other things that seem to trigger it is coconut and some kinds of nuts - walnuts are bad, pecans less so, peanuts are fine (though I think peanuts aren’t really nuts, are they? They’re legumes, IIRC). Interestingly, spicy-hot foods don’t set it off.
So I guess it comes down to if you’re actually burning it on hot stuff, if you’re having an allergic reaction to something you’re eating, or something else. Are you eating pizza right out of the oven or drinking scalding coffee?
Hey, thanks little bird… I found warm salt water helps. I also tried throat spray, and that helps a little too.
Buckgully!
You are SO lucky! All you have to say to women is “Hey there, want to find a way to my heart?” Stick out the tongue a little, and say: “Would you like to study this map a little closer!?”
If they aren’t under the impression that you’re sick… they might dig that. Um… Seriously though, I wouldn’t try it.
In the article they said it didn’t normally hurt… I hope you feel better… When ya get it. Is that why cartoon characters had spots on their tongue???
