My vote counted! Tick and NewsRadio on DVD!

So a few months ago, Sony gave us opportunity to vote for 4 tv shows we’d like to see collected in complete season dvds. There were only two I really cared about and apparently others did too.

The Tick (live action), NewsRadio, Soap, and Dilbert are all coming to DVD! Sure I’d rather have the animated Tick on DVD but I’ll take what I can get for now.

Finally I’ll be able to relive my favorite Phil Hartman moments without commercial interuption and on my own time.

I always loved Soap, even as a kid (why my parents let me watch it is beyond me), but it would be so dated now I’m not sure I’d be able to sit and watch it.

Dilbert is being aired on Comedy Central now, so no biggie.

Oh, and for those cite happy folks, here’s just one confirmation.

I only saw five of the nine episodes of The Tick, and while I thought it was great, it was missing something very important that added a lot of charm to the animated show: outlandish villains. In fact, four of the five shows I saw didn’t have a villain at all. Other than that, I don’t think they got anything wrong, but I really didn’t expect the show to last. Ah well.

There were nine live action Ticks? I thought there were seven, of which six aired.

Happy happy joy joy to both shows, though! Between this, Homicide, and Firefly (coming this fall), my budget’s blown out of the water, but wotthehell!

Homicide’s coming to DVD? Really? Yay!

That NewsRadio news is good news indeed.

I got the number nine from IMDB, which is usually right about this kind of thing. This episode list seems to corroborate it, and say that the first eight aired.

I’ve seen episodes 01, 02, 04, 05, and 06. The Terror is apparently in episode 09!

Juanitatech, the Virgin Megastore in Union Square had piles of them, and they were selling like crabcakes. The first two seasons (of course that was only 13 eps) and tons of extra features. And wow, you’re in Bawlmer itself, you lucky thing! The stores should have teetering stacks of them! Expensive but worth it (not that I’ve watched mine yet, but you can just tell!)

Super Karate Monkey Death Car, how I’ve missed you.

are they gonna do the tick animated on DVD. now that id pay good money for…

Well, I guess DVD is better than nothing, but I preferred Newsradio on A&E. I don’t think it’s on anymore, but I might be wrong. Wonder if they’ll include the Pop-up video one.

Anyways, I never, ever watch the TV shows I own on DVD. I always intend to, but it never happens. So I stopped buying them.

Smack Fu, no one watches the TV shows they own on DVD. We’re just hoarding them for the inevitable collapse-of-civilization-DVD-marathon.

Actually, I’ve been watching my Sports Night set recently. But I certainly buy more than I watch (so far), and am very happy about Homicide, Tick (either kind), and Firefly.

Mehitabel, amazon.com has the box set of seasons one and two for $52.46. Since the purchase exceeds $25, there are no shipping and handling charges.

Yay!

How many animated episodes were there? I’m really keen to have that on DVD.

The first Speed Racer volume is on its way to my door, even as we speak.

Ah, that’s wonderful. I loved the live action Tick. I actually liked it better than the animated. The characters were much more fun. BatManuel is my patron saint and hero.

gasp!!!

There are 36 episodes of the Tick animated series. Where do I cast my vote to get them on DVD? I can’t believe the live action was released before the animated!

And damn it, where’s the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman on DVD?

http://epguides.com/Tick_2001/

Yup, 9 episodes.

Wonder Woman has been rumoured on DVD, but with the lively trade Columbia House is already doing with the VHS version, I think they want to milk that to death first.

… I was hoping you were referring to the animated Tick.

Arthur: Not in the face!
Spoooon!

Ahh, Tick. Some of Patrick Warburton’s finest work.

Come to think of it, so was Newsradio.

I don’t suppose he was also in Andy Richter Controls the Universe?

I just dropped by to say that NewsRadio is one of the finest sitcoms this world has known and that I will be buying all DVDs that so much mention it on the back.
