My weekend with international women, super stars, and cuisine

Well, okay, international cuisine is a bit of a stretch (unless you count a steady, three-day diet of Australian beer and Italian sausages), but I stand by my assertion that I am in store for a weekend with international super stars and gorgeous women.

Thursday, my brother and I depart for our annual pilgrimage to Indianapolis, Indiana to see the world’s greatest drivers at the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix. There’s nothing like it. Nothing! That sound … oh, that sound! Umm, yeah. I’ll settle down now. Years ago, we kept up with F1 on TV, and I remember when they left the U.S. back in '91 or so, he and I made a pact that if F1 ever came back to the states, we’d be there. We’ve been every year since 2000. We’ve also discovered that about four straight days is all we can handle of each other, but we always have a blast, even if we are asses on the way home Sunday.

I’m a fan of the Schumacher brothers, and I’ve been a fan of Michael since his days with Jordan and Bennetton. So I’m hoping to see him clinch a record-shattering 6th World Championship this year, and Indy will be a HUGELY competitive race to help decide the battle between him and Juan Montoya. ANYWAY, any other Dopers headed to Indy too? Any Dopers in the F1 business/industry anywhere in the world? F1 dopers and fans, here’s your chance to check-in. I’d like to see just how many there are here on the boards.

c’mon, sign in. PLEEEASE! Feed my ego! I don’t wanna have to submit this one to the Dead Threads Society too.

What the heck, I’ll respond just to keep your post from dropping off the face of the Earth!

I’d love to see the US Gran Prix in person, but I’ll be relegated to TV coverage. Maybe someday.

As for the sound…I know a guy who goes to Indy for IRL and F1 races. He commented on how people were taken aback by how much louder the F1 cars were…I’d love to hear them in person.

Someday I will make it a point to go.

I’m still mad they’re dumping the Canadian Grand Prix!
