I worked as a waitress for two years to save up money to go to massage therapy school. That was my dream. My husband and I moved to a different state.

Halfway through (sooner?) I was starting to get a sinking sensation. Like maybe I don’t like massage therapy. Maybe I hate it. Maybe the prospect of a life “living my dream” looks like a life of drudgery.

I did finish the program and then never worked as a massage therapist. All that money wasted. It was terribly embarrassing to tell my husband and other people in my life that I didn’t want what I’d worked so hard for. It was embarrassing every time someone who knew I’d gone to massage therapy school asked what was up with the massage therapy career. But all that is better than giving massages and hating it

At least there was a happy ending.

Good luck with whatever happens next Frylock. Divorce is never easy even though mine was pretty amicable. It sure sounds like you did everything you could to make things work and at least your ex wife won’t be able to use you as a target for her own issues anymore.

The kids have handled this amazingly well. The little boys are just like “yay now we have two houses.” The oldest simply stated that we must split custody 50/50 and keep all four sibs together at all times, and that is what we’re doing (and were planning on doing anyway). Second oldest is just rolling along like she does.

No kid seems to show any fear about who loves who etc. I’m very glad for this, I feared otherwise.

Heh. Sounds like you two did get one of the most important parts of your marriage right The divorce itself will suck (they always do), but I hope it sucks as little as possible and that y’all find yourselves in a better place a year or two from now, than you do now.
