My world, and welcome to it; a pictorial MMP

You’re welcome. :p:D

I hope you fixed up all the mis-spellings for me GT. Normally I look things over before I post, but Wifey wanted me off of the computer and into the shower right then, and whatever Wifey wants…

Welcome SecretAgentG. Are you saying you have stress-induced acne outbreaks? If so, there are skin soaps made especially for that sort of thing, or Tea Tree soap could help. Also, eating at McDonalds is contra-indicated if you’re suffering acne outbreaks. I’m just saying.

Last night we watched all the taped shows we had saved up from this week.
I think I’m about through with Heros. There’s plenty of other new stuff to watch anyway.

Today we went and watched #3GrandDaughter play soccer. She’s 12. They won 1-0. Undefeated for the season.

That’s all I’ve got. There should be more, but I’m old and forgetful.

I am obsessed with watching first season episodes of Mary Tyler Moore. Thus, I have not eaten and am now hongry. I must forage and then maybe just one more episode… ok, two… really, four or five tops…

Hulu? Was ist das?
I cleaned the fish bathroom today. It’s called the fish bathroom because it used to be decorated with fish. Now it’s just blue, but the name stuck. TH is also installing the new blinds for said bathroom. Yay! I will no longer kill him today.
Dinner is in the oven. I sort of made the crash potatoes thingy again. What I did was this:

did the boiling thing and mashed 'em up in a shallow casserole dish. Drizzled some EVOO on top, with some kosher salt and garlic. Cut up some kielbasa, mixed that in and then put grated sharp cheddar cheese on top. I will serve with salad. I hope it’s as good as it smells. I think onions, mushrooms and other things would make for good additions as well. It was easy, that’s what really matters.
For Swampy: “Oh, Mr. Grant!” and an MTM smile:

I just got a fascinating piece of mail from the Gas Company… I wish I had a scanner here so that you could see it.

Within 1/2 an inch of each other it says these two things:

**Account Balance of $357.96 will be sent to bank for automatic payment on September 30, 2008.

THIS IS A SHUT-OFF NOTICE.
Unless we receive your past due amount of $316.86 by Sep 30, 2008, your gas may be shut off.**

Um, ok. Just fight it out amongst yourselves and let me know who wins.:smack:

Yes, obviously, there is more to it, but suffice it to say that this is how ridiculous it’s been going all along.:dubious:

Hi everyone!

As it happens, I’m making Crash Hot Potatoes for dinner, too! Along with a huge salad and some fried catfish.

Welcome, AgentJ! My company has a sister company in Aberdeen, I wonder if we’ve spoken on the phone? I’m in subsea engineering.

Mr Rebo has finished installing the siding in the entry alcove. It looks great! Much better than black tarpaper.

All I’ve done this weekend is laundry and grocery shopping. And I vacuumed the living room and kitchen. Yes, I vacuum the kitchen! With the attachment thingie, all around the edges. It gets the dog hair up, and most of the crumbs. I really need to mop, but I suck. Next weekend! And I need to restart the hallway painting. Yeah, yeah, yeah…

Oh yeah, I did get a haircut, and a mani/pedi. And I took the dogs to the park Friday, and gave them both baths! So I’m not such a slug, am I? Everybody is a slug compared to Mooom, anyway. When y’all get done with that build, you need to sit down and rest for about 6 months, woman!

Ok - I’m starving, time to go cook dinner.

Oh, yeah, I’ll take the MMP October 27, the day after my 50th birthday. I might have something to talk about - I hope!

Oh, I’ve been a -total- slug this weekend, Rebo - all I’ve done is play on the computer, read my book, watch tv and work on my afghan a bit. Speaking of said afghan, which I’m not doing from any pattern, btw–I found out that the one stitch that I feel comfortable doing, I’m not doing it “right.” Heh. I’m doing it sort of half-assed backwards. I suck at crafts, seriously, but I’m hanging in there because I’m a gonna make this afghan and I’m gonna be able to use it, no matter how … strange it might look. As long as it works to keep me warm, right?

Back to work tomorrow. My work building is set well back from the road; the front entrance way is paved road, leading almost to the building, where paved stones create circle around a green area to the actual front door. Now these are fancy paving stones and over the last 15 years (since the bldg. was built), many of the stones have come a-loose from the rumblings of transit buses, shuttle buses and cars, so they are having the paving stones redone and re-caulked over the next month. What all this means is that the regular Metrobus can’t come up onto the property any more, cause they can’t go around the circle. It’s about 1/2 mile or more, up hill, from the road, which only has a sidewalk on one side (). My agency, in it’s great wisdom, decided to make a shuttle bus available between the building and the nearest subway station (of course, totally ignoring any people who might be coming from the opposite direction … guess they’ll just have to re-arrange their commutes); they’ll run every 30 minutes, both ways, on the hour and half hour and will take us inside the campus and almost to the door. Except they won’t run between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM. So tomorrow I get to see how much longer it’s going to take me to commute to work via public transit/shuttle bus, I guess. Okay, stiff upper lip and all, I know. Gah.

rigs hulu is this black hole of a website full of movies and tv shows that will suck you in and not let go. Don’t go there, I beg you! However, if you do, blame gt and doggio like I did.

I ate and watched only two more episodes of MTM. I might watch one, ok two, three or four at the most and that will be it for the night.

Finally back on line! My rotten kid had the nerve to ask to use my computer do to her lesson plans. Have you ever???

Supper was yum - meatloaf, rice-n-gravy, and carrots. And either custard pie or chocolate cake roll for dessert - store bought - I haven’t had the time or energy to cook.

What we got done this weekend: A fair bit, actually. The bedroom is almost done - we should get it finished in the next couple of evenings. Daughter and I finished installing the ceiling fan. The toilet is installed and the countertop is almost installed - **FCD **left it in clamps overnight so the glue would set. Daughter has installed all of the baseboards - I’m impressed!

I got the west wall powered up - all the plugs are installed, and I connected it into the circuit. I also got power to the half wall between the nook and living room, and installed a plug on the opposite side of the nook. Daughter and I put up the pendant lights that hang over the future breakfast bar and with FCD’s help, I got the main kitchen light and the track lights that are over the sink.

The only light still to be installed is the ceiling fan/light in the living room. And the bathroom needs towel bars, curtain rod, and some trim and caulk. There’s a lot of paint touch-up required, but I’m going to wait till we’re all done working and do it all at once. The end is in sight…

One cool thing we’ve done - the light switches in the stairwell have been replaced with motion detector switches, so as soon as you step in, the light goes on. There’s one at the top and one at the bottom. And they’re on timers, so they go off in about 5 seconds if there’s no motion (I’m going to adjust for a little more time.) Very cool! We’re probably going to put the same switch into the closet downstairs.

My feet hurt - I think my Rockports have died - they have no support left and the inserts I bought have given up the ghost. But I’m showered and fed and relaxing before crawling into bed. Yet another busy weekend winds up…

Yes, swampy, keep telling yourself that.

rigs, hulu is one of several places where you can watch TV on the internet for free. They have brief commercials, but only one per break. They have old series and new series and even a few movies. It is highly addictive. Just ask swampy. It’s particularly bad for people like me who a) hate commercials and other stupid interruptions on TV, and b) don’t have cable.

I should consider dinner. I had a big brunch, so I haven’t really been hungry. Had some licorice earlier, but that’s it. Maybe I’ll go with hot cocoa again.

Should at least go to the grocery to get a few things for lunch.

ETA: I see swampy beat me to it. Heed his warning, rigs!!! It’s not too late!!!

GT

My dad and I had target practice today. I would best serve in a gunfight by you handing me your emptied weapons and having me fling them at the assailant. My dad had me practice “reactive shooting” by picking up the pistol and aiming quickly down the side or just working on how to aim without spending all the time adjusting the aim. I’m making this too complicated. He was teaching me to pick up the gun and just shoot at the bad guy without spending 15 minutes asking him to stand “just so.”

It was OK. He measured off about 12 feet, saying it was the size of an average room, and I viciously eradicated that area of land of bad watermelon (of which there was a population of one) - I killed it with extreme prejudice. And that mouthy Sprite can that got in my way, too! Along the way I managed to get gunpower on my eyes, hurt the heel of my hand by slamming the clip in and lose some hearing because I didn’t pull my ear cover thingys up when I switched from the .22 to the 9mm. So I don’t feel much like I did so well…

Dinner was vegan tacos - tofu ground up with jalapenos, taco sauce, corn and vegan cheese in corn tortillas. I ate it while the rest of the fam ate the leftovers from my parents party last night - lots of grilled beef brisket on soft rolls with horseradish, cheese dips, fancy finger foods. I have to admit: I came this >—< close to saying screw Bessie the cow and what she does to my body in meat and milk form and started to grab a bite. But I did eat fish and french fries last night so I must atone…

Tomorrow, they gym awaits to punish myself for slipping into the carnality of cake (yes, I ate a piece - and I damn near threw myself to the floor in pleasure in full view of my family when I did. So there).

::flings hot tsimis at Spaz::

Actually, didn’t gefilte fish contain fish heads at one point?

I am rewriting tomorrow’s OP - I’ve been writing it in stages for the past several weeks and it is now three pages long. I will not inflict that on you, so I must cull and summerize. Laterz

I posted a question about dependent personality disorder over here. Anyone who knows anything is welcome to chime in.

Welcome Secret Agent!

Psttt, Rebo, I vaccuum the kitchen too, for the same reasons. My dog shed probably ten new puppies of hair everyday. Not only do I vaccuum the kitchen floor, I then dry Swiffer it to make sure it’s all up. After that, I wash the floor. Kind of obsessive, isn’t it?

We had our pleco and both our pictis cats die today. Hmmm, no symptoms of problems, then bam! dead. Hmmm, could it be amonia? Yes, by God it is and it’s above danger level.:smack::smack: We’d kind of forgotten that when a brand new tank is set up, it actually takes awhile for the pump and filter to work enough to keep the amonia levels correct. Anyway, medicine has been introduced to the tank. Let’s hope it works so that we don’t have any more fatalities.

Well, I think I’ll WoW it up for awhile before I have to pick my daughter up from work. Did I tell you all how really, really, really happy I’ll be when she has her license? I hope it’s within the next week or two.

The new MMP is up, mainly because I am very sleepy and I know I’ll forget to do it in the morning.

wow, Pie, that’s kind of heavy. I hope you get some helpful answers.

Dolores Reborn thats so cool that you work for subsea! The company I work for supplies cars/vans for subsea engineering so I talk to a few people from the Aberdeen office. I am looking for a new job - put in a good work for me! he he he

I decided to be good and stick to healthy foods to clear up my face outbreak. Glad to say that it appears to be working. I did go a bit nuts buying food from marks and spencer though!:smack: Im still waiting on my student loan to come in - I really need it! Spent my rent money on food and my uni keep asking for fees! :frowning:
eleanorigby, these points that you raised appear to be plus points but -

  1. seacoast - ugly seagulls everywhere. Did I mention that they are shopliftingkiller seagulls? (Oh not quite killer but they are pretty mean!)
  2. Lots of the buildings are dull - mainly granite buildings - blah…
  3. After a while the bagpipes WILL annoy you, I used to play. hangs head in shame
  4. No locals with various appealing accents. check “far div yi wanna go? Its affa call oot ere!” - so rough sounding!
  5. No milk duds here or cinnamon toothpaste :frowning:
  6. No karaoke bars. We used to have one but it closed down - things just havent been the same!

The jury is back and I believe I win!

J, it’s Monday. You need to move to the new, referenced MMP.

Yes, you can continue old conversations in the new thread.
