Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

Have you been reading the role list? :dubious:

I saw it on preview. Thank you very much!

You’re in good company. Quite a few people were pinged by me on Day 1, including the big bad wolf Blaster Master. (I like to think that I got Blaster talking enough that people fingered him as Scum. It’s better than thinking I consistently talk myself into a noose. Because as they said in Blazing Saddles, no noose is good noose.)

Well I would assume that either TexCat or Gnarlie would have mentioned it by now that it was a possibility. The type of mechanism I am thinking of would be something like their role PM saying “oh and watch out, one of you might be scum. I blow donkey balls. --Gad”

There’s what, 37 players in this game? There was like 45 in the other game. Hardly a big difference in size.

As I said I don’t think it’s a good idea to lynch you while you’re poisoned and I definitely don’t know why you’d think it was a good idea. If consensus is you’re scum, it’s best to let poison kill you. If you can make a good case for why you’re not scum, maybe whoever targeted ed last night can target you and save you. If we think you’re scum and you still get saved, then we should probably lynch you.

I was thinking this myself. The game started with 9 wolves and 7 remain. I don’t know if healer is a role the wolves would be likely to have, I’d guess they wouldn’t but I could easily be wrong. Even if they did start with one, it’s now ~22% that he’s dead.

Even if there is a wolf healer, if the day ends with a consensus that brewha should not be cured and someone heals him anyway, the person responsible would be putting a lot of heat on themselves and we might bag two wolves that way.

I am inclined to agree with these suspicions. I found LightFoot’s vote for krayz to be somewhat suspicious in a post I made in the earlier part of d2. He might be a good wagon today.

However, from what I’ve read, I actually feel Scuba’s behavior has been pretty villagery. He has had an open mind as far as I can tell, and I think it’s important to note that he was only the second person on the Inner wagon. This makes his vote less likely to be a desperate move to save Blaster and more likely to have been off an honest read.

Wait, were you not supposed to PM that to me last Night? Sorry. ;):stuck_out_tongue:

At 45 players I still would call it nearly game breaking. At 75+ players I would say it’s probably ok (if I am going off the top of my head). How did that wolf mason die in the other game?

Hmm, so we targeted each other and we are both alive and kicking

Anyway what I wanted to say was that my “mate”** Peeker** was very sure that Giraffe was scum, why aren’t we discussing that? Do you all think that** Peeker** is a twit and you ignore everything he says? Well I for one won’t.** Peeker** might just have had a real result that told him that** Giraffe** was scum! We know** Peeker** is Town so why not just listen to him?

**Unvote
**
Vote Giraffe

And so I get rid of my Vote on Zeriel, but I still don’t trust him, there are more scum out there.

My list

Giraffe
Zeriel

And I have yet to think of the other one

Now THIS is the type of role I’d be pissed about. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you want to read meaning into the color, it says that the “multiple people” knew Dancecat was a Villager. That would mean Dancecat was shot by the Wolves.

(Why would wolves use guns? Shouldn’t they be using their fangs? That’s bad color. I blame [del]Dirx[/del] Gad. Giraffe Board in-joke. Don’t worry about it.)

AOP @ sangaman: I’ll have to go check the OPs to verify that we definitely started with 9 Wolves; I recall that was a player’s estimate. Or do you know something I don’t?

Also, the reason I keep an open mind is because I know my preconceptions and opinions in Mafia are FUBAR. So I’m better off being convinced than doing the convincing.

Yes, but remember, you blocked me, heh.

Although it wouldn’t have made a difference, as my target for Night One is still alive and kicking (and seemingly fine), too.

Also, you are not going to change my mind on this. If I am wrong I will yell at Gad for a while and then yell at MHaye for even longer and get over it reminding myself not to play in games they designed in the future.

But, 37-45 is 8 players. 8 players is a lot. Even if 4 players die every Night that’s still 2 Days worth of players. You have a lot more opportunities for random shit to balance the scales in that time.

Apparent result, light bulb moment

IIRC the player pool had suspicions that one of the masons was a wolf. Eventually they decided to lynch a mason and the mason they picked was actually the wolf. They then concluded that all of the other masons were probably villagers and cleared them all as villagers.

Off to work now, cya.

Tell me how it is effectively different than a scum mason? The big difference is that a scum mason might accidentally get killed at Night by a townie that doesn’t know what their power does or by a PFK. That is a little better for town, but not a whole heck of a lot.

Someone else can tell me then. Why did they have suspicions, and why didn’t they just keep lynching masons? How did they know that half the masons weren’t wolves?

It’s a slippery fucking slope and bad design. Catching the scum mason once is luck.

I’m assuming a scum mason could actually be KILLED, at least.

Surely if I had blocked you I would have received a message saying I did?

I’m afraid if I get lucky, it will be because I stacked the deck by my own hand.

I might be the one that sends out warm fluffy feelings to everyone
