We will not hesitate to modkill for this infraction. In addition, do not talk about your role PMs. Handshaking is futile; do not attempt it. If you are unsure of whether or not you can say something, please PM me. Any questions to the moderators should be PMed directly to me. Do not ask questions of the moderators in the thread.

Role Claiming:

Any player may claim anything they wish about their roles, but does so at their peril. Good luck.

Night Chat and Dead Player Chat:

There will be no strategy talk in the thread at Night. Dead wolves may not chat. No player may chat with dead players about this game. There may or may not be resurrection mechanics.

Summary:

1. PMs will play an important part of the game
2. Don’t quote PMs or talk about PMs from the moderators
3. Don’t talk about your role PM
4. Don’t handshake
5. Don’t talk about strategy in the thread at night.
6. Don’t talk to dead players.

None of these bars private communication with other players. It’s not in your rules, even if you intended it to be the case. Show me where it says it in your rules!

If this is the case you need to amend your rules, Gadarene. They don’t state that anywhere. :dubious:

Not only that, the rules are phrased as such that it is **technically illegal **to talk about your detective results, too, even if you’re not quoting them. Rules need to be amended, as such. I’m a host of roughly 45 games and trust me, I understand the importance of following them, but your rules are not written as necessary if you intend for talking about detective results to be legal, or to have all private messages with other players banned. It’s not in the rules.

However, I’ll do the right thing and inform you that I sent a message to Normal Phase. But because what you’re saying was not specifically banned by your rules, I would *request *that you not infract me for it.

I could send you what I sent her, but here’s the summary:

2. roleblockers are 50/50 scum in my opinion.

I *hope *since the rule against PMing was not actually in your rules and since I came forward after you said it was illegal will mean this obviously innocent error was not even my fault and there will be no penalties, right?

I did more digging, just to make sure I wasn’t screwing up.

So, obviously, I am not in error to conclude that PMs were legal by default since they weren’t explicitly or even implicitly banned. And explicitly banned is the only way I could have been intentionally rulebreaking, and banned in general is the only way I could have been rulebreaking even in technical terms.

So, I’m redoubling my request to not be infracted for this error, which I feel wasn’t my error, and I would also request you post a message in the thread in official moderator-y format saying that PM communications with other players are illegal from this point onward.

Actually, because the game is now 3 days and 3000 posts+ into the game, you’re going to want to send out a mass PM to everyone. That way no one misses the rule amendment.

Maybe it’s your board culture which assumes that PM communications with other players are illegal, but they aren’t on all the other boards I play on, and if they are during a game, the game moderator MUST say that EXPLICITLY in the opening post. In fact, there was limited PM activity allowed in the De’endee game, depending on which role you had. Some players were allowed to send messages, although in very limited fashion.

That said, even though some communication WAS mod-sanctioned, it was explicitly stated in the rules, the following:

I need something like this before I can understand that player-to-player communications are illegal.

Do you know how much of that has gone on up to this point? Because it’s not in the rules, many players might have been doing this.

I’ll say that I haven’t had any reason yet to contact anyone, so this would be my first and only “offense”, but that may not be the case for everyone. If so, there may be a lot of unintended rulebreaks, although as I said because it wasn’t stated, they are all not even really rule breaks.

I am absolutely FURIOUS that this is how you react to a question about the rules, pointing out that I have accidentally broken them if they were stated to be such, then pointing out that they DO NOT include anything explicitly banning private communication, and instead of going

“You’re right, it’s not listed in the rules, I will amend them immediately. you’re not to private message anyone else, though”

Like a good game host, your response was to threaten to modkill me and you didn’t address my points AT ALL.

I am shaking with anger. I would admonish you for this further, but I wouldn’t be able to be civil about it.

This is bar none the worst example of game hosting I’ve ever seen. You should be ashamed of yourself.
