There is a genre of music I find really cool when I’m in the right mood; it goes by “techno” or “house” or “trance” or “rave” or who knows what, depending on location and audience.
A good many years ago, I heard one tune that went like this:
I wanna be where the boys are But I’m not allowed
repeat*
and toward the end,
And play with my toys I’m not a BOY!
The song is sung by a female (duh), with a sound that is winsome and a little distant, distant as in a sound effect. “Where the Boys Are” just gets me Patsy Cline, who is perfectly fine, but that’s not the song. Any solutions/ notions/ hints?
If it’s Book of Love, it would have to have been MANY years ago (they were a late-80s synthy new wavy band)-- perhaps it’s a later cover? (if it really sounds like 90s/later techno)
ETA-- Ah, it looks like in 2000 or so that song was remixed.

You can spend way too much time here. I know I have.

What’s the secret to that site? All I see is a black screen with a couple links on it, but no music guide.

Click a link on the General types on the left.
And I think it runs on Flash, or some other plugin.

Hm. I’m pretty sure I have the latest version of flash, but didn’t see a menu on the left. Maybe my browser is blocking something it doesn’t like.
