N*e*s*t*l*e*s

“Netsle’s makes the very best…”

"CHOCOLATE"

(And then “Farfel” closes his mouth with an audible clack)!

I say Shari Lewis was the puppeteer.

Wife says “Noah Effingway”!

My wife is the sweetest thing that has ever happened to me, and I would NEVER have her cuss in one of my threads.

I bet her 50 bucks it was Shari.

Who’s right, Chirrun?

Thanks

Get out your wallet, Quasi. It was Jimmy Nelson.

Missed the edit window. Here’s a linky.

I knew Jimmy Nelson’s son.

I miss the last “s”.

Thanks, y’all. That is happening a lot with me these days, I’m afraid.
I’ll be so SURE of something and then be wrong.

Just glad no one takes these bets seriously, becaus if they did, I’d surely be homeless!:smack::slight_smile:

Quasi

Just next time, don’t bet her money. Bet her chocolate. Then everybody wins.

OMG, I didn’t realize the history behind the dog’s mouth snapping shut. Everybody remembers it including the op. It was a mistake gone horribly right.

:):):):):)

What a CLEVER solution, Sigmagirl!

Thanks

Q

And it was another puppet (Damny 'O Day) who sang the first part of the jingle, not Shari!

:smack::smack::smack:

Thanks!

Q

The Nestle ads with Danny O’Day and Farfel were before my time so–with the exception of a Christmas reunion commercial they did about 15 years ago–I don’t remember seeing them. What I do remember are a series of ads done sometime in the late 60’s that featured a character that was either a puppet or a stop-motion animated figure (my memory’s a bit fuzzy on this detail) who lived in some kind of candy house or shop. In each commercial, the character was visited by a life-size boy who, at the end, would break off and eat the building’s chocolate chimney (an action that would really piss off the little guy).

Does anybody else remember these ads?

I know the jingle, but I don’t remember ever seeing Farfel.

From your resident Everly Brothers expert: Don’s spoken *He’s a bird *. . . *He’s a dog *on Bird Dog was intended by producer Chet Atkins to be spoken by Farfel! Until Don said Hell No. But Don’s response still is supposed to be in imitation of Farfel. Listen:
