I am trying to recall the name of a Canadian chocolate snack food that kind of sounds like “gobstopper”. Can someone help me recall what I might be thinking of?
I should add this product, as I recall, has a texture along the lines of what Canadians might know as “drizzlecorn”. If anything, I recall it is chocolate drizzled over something with a consistency of a rice krispy treat or popcorn ball…or cluster. Any takers?
So not actually, you know, gobstoppers.
Maybe http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clodhopper_%28candy%29 Clodhoppers?
Sorry, can’t get the hyperlink to work.
Maybe this link will work.
Ok, link works.
That doesn’t sound anything like what the OP described.
Thank you!
Aside from being a candy sold in Canada that sounds like “gobstoppers,” nope, not at all.
“Canadian Chocolate Treat”, my first thought was Chocolate Moose.
Ethilrist, you can’t even claim a simulpost with the OP’s second and detailed clarifying post. The full detailed description of the candy was available for a full 8 minutes before your drive-by link.
Man, tough audience in Cafe Society today…
For what it’s worth, I read your initial post as a joke at first but then in your response to IvoryTowerDenizen your artful imitation of “SDMB poster with panties in a bunch” came off a little too accurate. My misread of your second post made me reconsider how I had read your first post.
Sorry if your first post was a joke. Seemed like the thing where people post links without reading them, since other than the name it didn’t address what the OP was asking, and especially since this OP often gets dinged for posting questions that are easily Googable.
Mine was Chocolate Drizzle Poutine.
Nanaimo bar is what first came to mind for me. Damned tasty, but not the answer to the OP.
Yes, indeed! It IS Clodhoppers! Thanks all! We can’t get these in the US, at least not by me! I’m just checking in since I was offline over the holiday, when lo and behold! I was watching a “Christmas Story” on TBS. And, what does the father say in an opening scene? “Some clodhopper swallowed a yo-yo…” Eureka!
I’m like “did he say what I think he said? Clodhoppers! That’s it! Bingo” I should ask Santa for Clodhoppers! (I know, I’ll extend my stomach out! ;))
Thanks again, everyone for your help!
