Where did you see it? Cinema? TV?
Is a 10-year old movie that you saw on TV in 1985 really too old? What’s the earliest date it could be?

The movie was released no earlier than 1985. Probably closer to 2000.
So, anything earlier than 1985 is not it.

Thanks for that list, but I don’t think it’s any of those.
The problem is that (as I recall) the movie really isn’t about snipers. It’s more of an intrigue story (I think the backdrop is a possible presidential assassination plot). Other than the one “exploding head” scene, there’s very little violence.
And, it’s not any of the Jackal films…

Try to look up Mark Wahlberg on ImdB. He made some sniper movie a few years ago.
Then google “sniper movies”
I’ve done all those searches.
I even went through all the movies that had the keywords “sniper” “Commando” “sharpshooter” “marksman” and a whole lot more, and couldn’t find it.
The annoying thing is I remember finding it on IMDB a few years ago, but I can’t re-create the magic incantation…
