Name something you're happy about

We’re getting our new (used) car back from the mechanic finally (routine maintenance, but there was a lot of it) which means that as of tomorrow I don’t have to drive MrWhatsit back and forth to work anymore.

Also, the Christmas cactus is starting to put out buds!

After a week of dealing with horrible people on numerous credit card customer services phone lines (I’m giving you the stink-eye, Bank of America), I was graced with the most lovely customer service rep of all. I had to call the AARP (the American Association for Retired Persons) to tell them to take me off of their mailing list (I’m nowhere near senior, yo!) and they played soothing jazz while I was on hold, then the customer service rep spoke to me in a slow, soothing voice. Such a nice change of pace. It made my day.

My favorite thai restaurant is still open despite an acquaintance’s belief that it had closed. And the dumplings I got from there last night were the best yet.

The Yankees won the World Series!

I got to get up and have another day!

It’s Friday!

I am having a good hair day!

I am about to go to a party. And play dominoes! And I have “always look at the bride side of life” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlBiLNN1NhQ stuck in my head.

I’m still employed.

My brother has been called back to work.

I’ve been walking home from my new office location for a couple of months now (about three miles), so I was already pretty fit when SEPTA went on strike this week. Walking both ways has therefore been less tiring than I feared it would be.

I was let go early from jury duty last week. And when I went over to the Reading Terminal Market for lunch I found the Fair Food Farmstand was selling Winesap apples, my favorite, and Smokehouse, a tasty variety I haven’t seen since childhood.

I’ve had a lovely, relaxing day off just puttering around the house and the internet and listening to a couple of albums I hadn’t pulled out in a while.

After 8 weeks of work and organizing and learning as we go, our store opens tomorrow.

A HUGE GRAND OPENING. I will be there at 8am and until possibly closing. A full mob of insanity is expected. We will have over 100 other store staff to help out.

I went in expecting a part time cashiering job and ended up as a full time floor supervisor. Not quite sure how that happened. I just always kept busy and made eye contact. (You would be surprised how few know how to do this.)
A month after I started this job, my husband’s car started the death rattle. So he went out and bought a new-to-us car that has heated seats. I FREAKIN LOVE HEATED SEATS. HOw could I be driving over 25 years in Michigan and NEVER EVER HAD HEATED SEATS IN ANY OF MY CARS!!! I could write reams and reams of Odes to a Heated Seat, but I shall spare all of you.

It was a beautiful day today, and the fallen leaves are dry and crunchy. Oh, the joy of stomping on piles of dry leaves!

And I tried out a new hair color today. Normally I am Feria #63( Sparkling Amber, TYVM) but a new * color is out and to show you how cutting edge I am, I bought Feria # T64 ( Amber Tortoise. Srsly.)

Amber Tortoise.
Sounds like a user name.

And it’s on my head.

Looking awesome, if I dare say.
*So new ( or something) that it is not on their website, yet. But it is a new line marketed for brunettes called Tortoiseshell. Heeee.

My car passed its safety inspection.

My younger brother (17) managed to have a pretty good birthday yesterday in spite of my father being mad at him (about school, as usual.)

I got a Fully Successful rating on my performance review last week so I get to keep both my job and my (fairly generous) signing bonus (which is paid out in semiannual installments over the course of 4 years with payments stopping if I get a less than FS rating.)

The guy I bought a videogame from on eBay the other day emailed me to say that he had found a cheaper and quicker way to ship the game than he had expected and that he was refunding me the difference in shipping costs. (It’s only a couple of bucks, but I absolutely love how honest the seller was; it could have been a dime and the refund would have made my day.)

My SO is back in town after a week long business trip, and is now wandering around the house looking cute and snuggly.

I just discovered a treasure trove of about 50 videos of Joao Gilberto playing and singing on YouTube.

I just ran 3.8km.

I just realized today that the shoulder I had a procedure done on a couple of weeks ago, after 9 months of being practically immobile, is now as good *or better *than the other one!

I’m getting some OT.

JustThinkin made it home safely after a few days on a business trip.

I have my adorable 3 1/2 month old daughter sleeping on my shoulder after a good feeding.

Ah scratch the sleeping part the doorbell just rang, but she isn’t crying at least.

Also this fantastic little baby has been sleeping 7-8 hours a night straight since she was 2 months old. And before then she would sleep four to five hours in a row every night. She hasn’t cried at night since she was 2 weeks old!

I’m healthy. My loved ones are healthy. That makes me happy.

Check out my ring!

I’m getting to help design what will be a high-profile garden project that has great potential to inspire people to do like plantings. I’m not gonna curse it by saying the specifics too soon, but it really is one of those dream jobs that makes the work a joy!

Ten years later than it’s TV run, having a netflixation with “Strangers With Candy”, and it’s just wonderfully twisted and funny. So great to laugh hard at the end of the day watching it. Brilliant writing.

Another day of sobriety.
