Oooo, nice! I like purple.
Very pretty! Congrats officially!
I got to paddle (dragonboat) today. Indoors, but it’s better than nothing! We have a new coach for at least the winter, possibly indefinitely, and he’s fantastic (which I knew, which is why I hired him for the team in the first place!)
The random cheap bottle of wine I picked up from the grocery store today is actually very good. It’s a little hit and miss for things simply labelled “red wine” in grocery stores and dépanneurs, so I’m happy.
My new daughter, Mahalothette:
(pbbth, I actually exclaimed out loud when I saw the picture of your ring; I was expecting a run-of-the-mill diamond thing – that is gorgeous!!)
Well, a cute guy chatted me up in the laundromat yesterday. You know, when you’re doing laundry, all your good clothes are in the wash, so you’re maybe not at your best. Got my number too. I was so shocked! Cross your fingers. I’ve been hecka lonely.
I went to work today (at a new job) after almost 11 months of unemployment. And it’s a grrreat job too with more money than my previous job, plus pension benefits and union protection. For the first time in years I feel recession-proof.
I weathered the storm and am back on my feet again. Huge weight off my shoulders.
After just the first six days of this year’s NaNoWriMo I’ve managed to break 20k words.
Last night I had a sweet dream about a guy I used to lust after ten years ago. It’s been years since I thought about him, but the dream was very nice.
Yay, Leaffan! I’ve read your posts over the past year - glad to hear things are looking up!
Me? I’ve got Mrs Piper snoozing peacefully on the chesterfield on a Friday night; PiperCub fast asleep up in his crib; and two crazy PiperDogs puttering around the house. All very good.
She is adorable x 10000!
Great Googly Moogly! How much caffeine has been ingested to do such a feat?
Congrats and keep going!
I started planning a holiday in Scotland. Found a cottage with a Gloucester Old Spot Pig.
Mine also!
Yay! Keep us apprised! (me esp. – you have my email address.)
Um … yay?
A big one – I’ve got heat! I traditionally wait till Nov. 1st to turn on the furnace – at which point I found the pilot out and I couldn’t get the mo fo to stay lit. Plumber swung by on his way home last night – not the thermocouple, just a wonky pilot, so I felt like an idiot – but the house was lovely toasty warm last night. Now when I’m huddled under three sweaters and two lap robes, it will because of frugality and not lack of alternatives.
Well I have never seen a Gloucester Old Spot Pig. Not that I would have known one if I was pissing on it.
We’ll have a new baby in our arms this time next week. And if the contractions are anything to go by, possibly much sooner. Maybe even this weekend or Monday.
After weeks of rain, it has been sunny outside almost all week.
I have a cozy apartment, nice furniture, plenty of heat, a gorgeous view and a job.
A lecturer told me “You’re a shit student, but a good designer. You can work on real-world schedules but have no idea what to do with a 12-week deadline.” I’d always assumed she wasn’t particularly impressed by me because I never brought much work to class (or… went to class) until the last week of semester. It was just the encouragement I needed with graduation coming up in less than a month.
Now, about that Gloucester Spotted Pig…are holiday cottages in Scotland typically furnished with a pig (outside in a pen, I hope)? I might prefer a goat, or a sheep…
Last night I thought my old clunker out in the garage was leaking gasoline. Mr. Sali and our daughter, “The Nose”, went to investigate, advised it was NOT gas, nothing was leaking, and that I had driven through a patch of something spilled on the road. Hooray!
This means I can go visit a friend who lives out in the country, requiring a drive off the face of the known world, where there are no addresses but ‘turn right at the 4th road past the flashing light and watch for the horse barn 5 miles down the road’.
We’re about to pay off our mortgage. My whole weekend is free of requirements, I could go back to bed and stay there untill Monday if I really wanted to. There’s some really good chocolate in the 'fridge.
The fact that so many of us have so much to be happy about and are participating in this thread! What a great OP. It seems like, so often, we pay more attention to what’s wrong. I am enjoying this GORGEOUS SEVENTY SEVEN DEGREE day in St. Louis. I’m surprising my SO with a picnic at City Gardn or on the roof later today. The windows are wide open and I’m about to head out!
Muddy puppies* make me laugh.
Mine’s not, but I think the changing position of the earth/sun has something to do with bringing my African violets back to life.
This week the fuel pump went out of the motorcycle, the battery died in my car, and a module failed in the pickup. Lucky for us, my husband’s been picking up work hauling grain for a farmer and we were able to pay for all of it.
And we left Sadie the puppy alone for six hours on Thursday (doc app out of town) and she was able to “hold it” until we got home. Yay for puppy!
