After 5 months on light duty, hubby passed his fitness-for-duty test and today is his first day back on shift. I can do the dishes at 2 AM again.
Beer.
Beer makes me happy.
Today, my mom and I went to a local riding barn, and are scheduled to start lessons next Saturday. She has never had a formal lesson in her life, and the only ones I’ve ever had were 17 years ago in Girl Scout Camp. Then, we had a fantastic lunch at an Indian buffet, and I had great customer service at Wal-Mart on my way home.
My boyfriend proposed to me on Halloween, and gave me the most beautiful emerald-and-diamonds engagement ring.
WooHoo!!! I’m ever so glad to hear that! Good on you, Leaffan!

DEMAND! PICTURE!!
Today, the sun shone bright, the air was warm, and my bike was clean, with all chrome polished to mirror brightness.
The 800cc V-twin rumble as I cruised down the road was balm to my soul.
Life is good, at least for today.
I have gotten back with the most wonderful man on the planet, after a 2.5 year break. In spite of my best attempts, he still loves me and wants to be with me.
I am moving into the house of my dreams in a few weeks (his dreams too - we have the same tastes).
We bought new furniture today - to go in the house of our dreams. I love all the new pieces and I can’t wait to set up my new bedroom.
I can take total credit for finding the house, which is costing almost $50k less than all the houses HE was looking at, and which weren’t perfect! At some point in the future, I will have a chance to say, “I told you so!” and I’m very much looking forward to it.
The house had minor issues on the inspection and the seller agreed to fix them all before we move in.
The condo we’re selling also had minor issues and it will not cost us much to fix them.
A profit will be made from the sale.
I’m going to Disney in January (for my 30th birthday).
When we get back from Disney, we will be either buying two corgis, or rescuing a greyhound (only if we absolutely can’t find any corgis). We’ve both waited a very long time to be able to get dogs, specifically corgis, and I am so excited to finally have the chance. Now I just have to convince him that Nuggan is a good name for a dog. One will be named Ein - because we’re nerds and Ein was the coolest dog ever!
We’ve met a few of the neighbors and they’re all very nice and seem happy that we’re moving in. One of them has his third rescue greyhound so if we do go that route, he’s already offered to help break us in.
All in all, life is going pretty damn well for me. It’s true that I was laid off from my job because of a medical issue. But, that medical issue was a workers comp issue so my PT is still being paid for and they’re still sending me money (they did reduce it recently but it’s still enough to live on). And, I lost a job I love but if I still had that job, I wouldn’t have moved back to MA, which means I wouldn’t have gotten back together with my sweetie. AND, if I hadn’t come back and started taking care of the condo again, he probably wouldn’t have gotten the offer that’s allowing us to buy this awesome house.
Even nasty thunder clouds have a silver lining.
Thanks to the antidepressants, I can finally see the silver lining.
My mother-in-law is out of ICU and is now breathing and eating on her own. We couldn’t be happier.
I might be moving over to a new job where it is more fufilling in terms of what I am doing; no tremendous pay rise, but at least it would be something I like.
Back Story: Because of work/job/immigration issues I work in Europe and my wonderful/amazing husband works in California.
11 more days and I get to see him and spend 2 whole weeks with him. Can’t wait
Last night, when I was out for dinner with Mom, a woman and her young (toddler) daughter were seated next to us. “Oh joy,” we thought. The young girl proceeded to be quite possibly the best behaved kid ever. And while she was still at that age where she’s learning verbal politeness, her mother was always quick to prompt her to say “Thank you” or “Excuse me.”
!!!
Being that adorable ought to break some kind of law.
My Lord have mercy, she is adorable!
You are going to have to stop posting these pictures, or the Internet will break from sheer cuteness overload.
Regards in helpless slobbering admiration,
Shodan
My marriage. It sustains me.
I got to spend another day with my sweetie.
Ahhh, you caught her humping the banister again?
Finding this thread and reading it has been one of the high points. I smiled and laughed more than once.
I’ve been having some pain from plantar fasciitis (heel pain), but I’ve been working on exercising it and icing it and getting the right shoes, and I felt no pain for part of the day. Yay!
- My wife’s pregnancy is progressing well; we are expecting our baby boy in about four weeks.
- My job is relatively secure.
- I paid off the mortgage on our house.
My brother lived through surgery. Life is FANTASTIC!
Hal Briston you and your family are in my prayers.

The Mahalothette is the very image of cuteness.
