Acid Lamp and I are finally married, and it went off without a hitch. Yay!
I had to call my credit card company three times yesterday and all three times the service representatives were helpful, cheerful, and spoke coherent English.
It made me happy because it was such an unexpected experience.
My friends’ three-month-old daughter lived through her open-heart surgery, the surgical team was able to complete a full repair, and her oxygen saturation is literally the highest it’s ever been in her life.
It’s FINALLY cooling down. Summers around here (Tucson) last about 8 months, and it’s still 88 degrees today, but the nights are cool and pleasant and we are entering the gentle time of year where I can sometimes actually wear long sleeves!
I’m 41 years old and spent the weekend getting my brains fucked out by my little 24-year-old stud muffin. What’s not to be happy about?
And yeah, baby, Tucson in November rocks!
I love this thread! It’s making me appreciate my life a little more right now.
Mine:
I’ve got a wife who loves me more than I feel I deserve sometimes!
When I get home from Iraq in a few months, I get to be a daddy! (BomTek Jr will be almost 6 months old then… I don’t think the first 3 weeks I got with him before I left really count as daddy time)
I’ve got an amazing dog who is always willing to give me some kisses to make me feel better!
I’ve got bulletproof job security and I make enough money that Mrs BomTek can stay home with our baby boy!
I reformatted my hard drive recently, so I’ve got a brand new computer!
I’m expecting a couple care packages from my family in the next few days!
There’s more, but that’s a good start. Sorry for the exclamation points, but I’m in a good mood after reading this thread, and I think they’re good reasons to be excited.
One week and no puffs. No slipups, just ones, backslides, nothin’. And the withdrawal symptoms are finally behind me.
Nicotine demon, begone forever!
That makes me happy.
I’m also happy that on November 11th, it’s near 60F here and not 34F with driving rain, wind, and snow at night.
Something about the juxtaposition of:

makes me go
:smack:
Emphasis added.
I’m alive and healthy.
First, my son had the a game winning RBI double in his baseball game last night. It was a very exciting ending, where his team scored five runs in the bottom of the final inning to come back to win 10-9. He was 2-2 with a single, double, RBI and a walk. It would have been a perfect night if he hadn’t been caught out trying to steal home on a wild pitch. For his efforts he got the game ball and a water/Gatorade shower from his teammates. I’m glad he got to be the big hero at least once. He’s still smiling today.
Second, Safelite came by and replaced my cracked windshield at no out of pocket cost to me. Looks as good as new and I didn’t even need to go anywhere.
Ha! I didn’t even notice I did that. Of course there’s a little more risk of dying suddenly here, particularly because of my job (EOD, or Explosive Ordnance Disposal, the equivalent of civilian police bomb squads… yeah, we’re the guys who take care of all the IEDs here when there are any), but this deployment has seen zero IEDs for me so far. We do our best not to get complacent in the event one is found, but for the most part, I honestly feel that I’m as safe here as I am back home in Texas.
