Ah - I see. Sorry.
Since Qadgop doesn’t seem to be showing his tentacles, I’ll point out that both the Dauntless and the Velan are ships featured in E. E. Smith’s Lensman series, specifically Second Stage Lensman.
(I recently re-purchased and re-read the whole series.)
And nobody has guessed at the last 3 I posted.
Stretching the premise just a little bit:
Priscilla.
The Pathfinder is haunting me, because I should know it. Erg.
Was the USS Flagg from GI Joe (like I said in post #190)?
The Louisa is the German ship that is sunk by Bogie and Hepburn in The African Queen.
I was just checking in to reveal my answers, when Colibri I.D.'d the Louisa.
Last chance on the QEII-being-attacked-ineffectually question… Bueller? Bueller? Bosda?
Yes.
What type of vessel?
Joe small watercraft, Naval vessel or space shuttle?
Aircraft carrier IIRC
Correct!
Now, how bout–
USS Jane
Blue Fire
The USS Jane also was from GI Joe, a frigate - type vessel.
Half right. half wrong.
Not saying which is which.
Anybody wanna take a stab at a 100% right answer?
A while back I offered the Munequita but no one has tried to ID it. I’m sure you’re all in suspense, so let me reveal that it was a speedboat aquired by Travis McGee in the adventure novels by John D. MacDonald.
Now, can anybody figure out the Ringmaster?
Starship in the novel Titan, by John Varley
Spotted a couple of unanswered ones, I think
Rhabwar is the ambulance ship in James White’s “Sector General” series. (Named after a famous Tralthan medic, IIRC).
Z9M9Z is the Grand Fleet’s command-and-control ship in the “Lensman” series.
Anastasia was the personal vessel of Dan Dare - Pilot of the Future.
Right !
Some pretty obscure ones:
Green Carnation
Death or Glory
Chorazin
Oenone
Alice Liddel
Ayup. Wish I could find those strips online, as the art samples I’ve seen from it look fantastic.
