So Fish, do you maintain a database of schools in film and TV that you update whenever you’re facing a screen? Or did you have a week off, and decided to re-watch hundreds of films and TV shows to create this list?
Nope. I did do that for my original Name that! list, but I decided it was too narrow: it would only give the shows I was personally familiar with. I have found since then a number of handy lists online which I cull through for likely answers.
I try not to be cruel, so I don’t post the entire list of whatevers. I weed out confusing duplicates — for Name That Pet! there were several choices of dogs named Dog or Deeyogee or similar, which I removed. No matter which of these lists I do, there are still some on each one which prove to be too difficult, though.
Shiz University is from Wicked (and presumably its sequels which I haven’t read, or the musical which I haven’t seen).
Welton Academy is, I think, Dead Poets’ Society.
RetroVertigo gets 3 points. fachverwirrt gets 1 point for Welton Academy. ErasmusDarwin gets 1 point for Skool, from Invader Zim. (I’m sure “Skool” has been used as a humorous misspelling for many institutions, such as the Marx Brothers skit “Fun in Hi Skool,” I think Zim’s is the only one actually officially named Skool.) DudleyGarrett gets another point for Mayfield from Leave It to Beaver. Oakminster gets 1 point for Pendleton. Peter Morris gets at least 3 points: yes, Walford is from Eastenders. I don’t know about your “Skool,” as that isn’t what the institution is named. Eristic Kallistic gets 2 points for the schools from Wicked and Dead Poets Society.
