Name that song: Maybe 10 years old, had a latino theme, was about dancing, quite popular

Hi there,

I’m racking my brain trying to remember a song (quite popular, did very well on the charts here in Australia but the artist was not Australian), the song was (I think) about dancing, the chorus had (I think) a latino flair to it, and the film clip had (I think) an attractive lady in a red dress. The song is (I think) about 10 years old. It certainly wasn’t an obscure song when it came out - as I said, did very well on Australian singles music chart which does tend to largely mirror the US and British singles charts.

Is this ringing any bells for people

The Macarena?
Las Ketchup?
Mambo No. 5?

No, none of those, but thanks for the guesses.

Bailamos?

In These Shoes? by Kirsty MacColl?

More of a disco song, I guess. Murder on the dancefloor, Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Nope..

Nope..

No.

Thanks for the guesses though.

I am straining my memory to remember the film clip.. I am seeing a girl in a red dress (who I think was also the singer - I am not 100% sure whether the singer was a guy or girl but I am reasonably confident it was a girl) and I am seeing her dancing inside (not outside) on a wooden dancefloor.

Setting off any alarm bells?

Livin’ La Vida Loca

Nope, but thanks for trying.

Rio, by Duran Duran?

Nup :frowning:

Does this list help?.

Got it!

Debolah Morgan’s Dance With Me.

Scoured every song in the End of Year singles chart in Australia for 1999, 2000, 2001… there it was at #31 for the year 2001.

(Now runs off before people point out the “clues” I was giving that didn’t really reflect the song).

Thanks to all for your help.

Now I have Bailamos stuck in my head… Grrr…

I have Hernando’s Hideaway stuck in mine.

Apologies.

No, you probably have ‘bailamooooooooooos!’ stuck in your head.

By “latin flair” do you mean Bosa Nova? Human by Goldfrapp.

lambada?

Exactly!!
