Name that tune...... Please!

This will be easy for someone out there. The song is played quite a bit, the lyrics are ‘money money money, mooooney!’ the bass is kind of like, ‘dooot, doot, doot, dootodotoo, dooot, doot, doot’. Ya, ya, lame, but it’s the best description I can come up with. After the initial chorus, it sounds like a black reggea(sp?) guy kicks in, but I can’t tell what he’s saying.

Absolutely every internet search has come up with the wrong song. I get responses ranging from Abba to Snoop Doogy Dog. Needless to say, it’s neither of them or anything I think is current. It’s been featured in any number of movie soundtracks. Yet, soundtrack searches come up blank. Friends are no help, ‘Oh yeah. I know that song. It’s ahhhhh. Hmmm.’ Great. I know it’s easy because everyone seems to have heard it, I just can’t find the title or the artist.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, it’s early 70’s funk. I know the song title is “(For the Love of) Money”, but I can’t remember if it’s the Spinners, the Four Tops, or the Temptations. I’m sure someone out there knows.

I’m pretty certain it’s the O’Jays and ‘Money’

Damn. Jonathan Chance beat me to it. I second the O’Jays of “Love Train” fame. The song title, however, is indeed “For the Love of Money.”

Dang, beaten to the punch again. Teach is indeed right. I have the song on a Funk, Soul & R&B compilations. This song is on every movie involving getting rich (after the song came out, of course). The character in the movie picks up some of the money in his hands and this song starts playing, “Money, money, money…”
Great song, “Dollar bills, y’all.” At first I thought it could be Sly & the Family Stone, but then I checked my CD and sure enough, the O’Jays.

BINGO!

You guys are the best. It is in fact, “For The Love Of Money” by the O’Jays.

Thanks
