In an old episode of the simpsons (don’t know name/series etc.) , the power plant has a softball team. The dastardly Mr. Burns hires a host of professional players to beef up the nuclear plant’s team. Ithat song during the end credits a real song?, it goes something like “they were playing soft-ball,” and names the players who appeared in the episode. Can anyone tell me the name of the song or if its a parody the song it parodies?
and another,
there’s an instrumental in a driving scene early in Training Day, it features drums and a piano riff. I’m pretty certain its Dr. Dre i just want to know what the name of the track is.
thanks,
Mogiaw
The Simpsons song is a version of Willie, Mickey & The Duke (Talkin’ Baseball) by Terry Cashman. The Simpsons parody was also performed by Cashman, I believe. I don’t know the Training Day music.
From the The Simpsons Archive:
The Simpsons song is a parody of Talkin’ Baseball (Mickey, Willie and The Duke) by Terry Cashman. (Cashman also recorded a version for every major league team.) Cashman himself performed the Talkin’ Softball parody for the show. And it’s a great one, too.
Well, Mr. Burns had done it, the power plant had won it,
with Roger Clemens clucking all the while.
Mike Scoscia’s tragic illness made us smile,
while Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile…
It’s the instrumental part of Still D.R.E. off of Dr. Dre’s The Chronic.
