Name this dog! (with pictures!)

We have always, without fail, named all of our dogs people names. Taking that into consideration, I recommend Molly, but Maude is cute, too.

The dog’s name is “Steve.”

This dog should very clearly be named; Gem.

Can’t you see the sparkle and shine?

Meavis Mutthead…
(I stole that from the guy on the next block who named his two dogs Meavis & Mutthead. Figured we could just make one dog out of it.)

Absolutely no chance of that, I’m afraid. My last dog was a female and got a male name, and I will never do that again; it’s fifteen minutes of comedy and ten years of hassle.

Back from the vet: She’s apparently about ten months old, and is in good health except for having heartworms. So far the main problem we’ve run into is that, like many rescue dogs, she’s so submissive that she pees uncontrollably whenever a person approaches.

I think I’ll call her Liberace, since she’s the peein’est dog I ever saw.

Or, you could copy 101 Dalmatians and name her “Whizzer”.

Oh, that’s perfect! You could just call her Libby for short. She could be a Libby.

Incontinentia… Incontinentia Buckets.

Seriously, though, along the logic of “Snickers,” there’s also “Rocky [Road],” referring to her origins and coloration both.

When I saw her, I saw a Lucy.

How does EvilCat[sup]TM[/sup] feel about the new addition to your family?

Gretitude, Gretchen, Pearl, Minnie, Sha Sha, Shiva, Godiva, Robyn, and Aorta are some random names that would be good.

However, I would personally name her Jordan or Valerie after two recently deceased friends of mine. Jordan was a guy, but it could also apply to her.

Not to bring down the thread, of course - just suggesting something that would have a story behind it, and one that would be worth remembering. For me, that is. For you, do you have anyone you could name her in the honor of? That would be pretty good, IMHO.

(Link if interested.)

Toast, since she’s a little burnt around the edges.

Via, Strada, Calle, Rua, Rue or Weg which are ‘road’ in different languages.

Oh, and I always like Deefer. As in D fer dog.

Toast sounds like the perfect name.

mmmm… toast.

Or Pie. Because when you came back, you brought. . . .

. . . sorry, I’m to ashamed to finish.

I think you should call her Roxy, but I also second Lulu. I hope you get to keep her!

Call her Peeve and not only do you commemorate her peeing but you can show people a picture of your pet Peeve.

Snickers, Lulu and Murphy are my favourite names so far.

She looks like a Very Good Dog.

You guys…I love you guys!

And not to rain on parades, but Snickers and Molly are waaaayyy overdone doggie names.

I like to name pets from mythology so…(I think it is pronounced eh-sah)

Awwwww. What a cute puppers.
Ahem.

How about calling her Ripley?

A friend had a rather shy, friendly female dog so she named her after Signourey Weaver’s kickass alien-killer as inspiration. A fiercely loyal heart no doubt beats under all that warm fur.

Besides, it’s a catchy, perky name, not too cutesy and not too butch.

OK, after due consideration of all these awesome names, it’s settled! The dog’s name is… (drumroll please)

Zazu!

I’m not sure where that came from. We were going to take her outside, and my wife said, “OK, we gotta call this dog something. How about Zazu?” I said, “OK.”

Aye, there’s the rub.

We finally let them meet, now that we know the dog doesn’t have anything contagious. We were watching the cat very carefully, afraid she’d attack the dog in a rage. It never even occurred to us that the dog would start a fracas, but the dog–I mean “Zazu”–started growling and looked like she was going to go for the cat.

So we gotta find someone who wants a dog. Anyone? Free to a good home! She’s sweet as the dickens (if you’re not a cat), loving, and eager to play. I think she weighs about 10 pounds, and the vet says she’s just about done growing. Anyone? E-mail’s in my profile…

Personally, I’ve always like mythological names

My suggestions are Pegasus, Medea or Charybdis.

Of couse, you have to be able to pronounce them. My cat’s original name was Rogue, but my stepson couldn’t pronounce it so it ended up Brat.
