Go with Bonkers.
Picture yourself late at night, out on the lawn in your robe, calling for her to come back inside from the back yard…
Booooooooooonkerrrrs!
The neighbours will be amused…

So your mother-in-law’s out. Did Zuzu meet her and start growling? Or vice-versa, perhaps.
A very standard/traditional looking mutt, & therefore quite likely to be a suitably loyal & loving pet.

[li]Sport[/li][li]Scout[/li][li]Hi Opal, always a fine name for a puppy.
[/li][li]Or, if you wanna get all too-cool-for-school/hyper-ironic, Fido.

Nice idea, but for a more subtle reference, because she’s cute and dog pre-pubie, how about Newt? (Ripley’s grade-school age sidekick from Aliens…)
I’ve always wanted a slightly stupid dog, so I could name it Hosehead. I have a neutered tomcat named Booger. He earned the name the hard way.
A friend had a rather exuberant Boxer named Bongo.
No, alas; it turns out my father-in-law said they’d take her, but m-i-l hadn’t known about it and doesn’t want to take on another pet right now, as they’ve lost two old dogs in the last six months or so. So that’s out.
We’re going to start putting the word out to everyone we know; I’m sure someone can take her. I hope.
I would take her in a heartbeat if I could get to Memphis.
And Zazu was the little birdy major-domo from The Lion King.
I think her name should be “Rowdy Roadrunner.” Very, very cute . . . hope you can find somebody to give her a loving home
God bless you!
[aside] LilMiss’s teacher has a dog named Sadie. LilMiss’s name is Sadie. Her teacher told her that whenever she lets the dog out she thinks of her. Thanks.
OR, there’s the time when we were at Petco and LilMiss wanted to pet a gorgeous bull dog who was there with her owner. LilMiss asked if she could pet the dog. Owner looked at the dog and said “Sadie?” - LilMiss said “What?” The owner though LilMiss was being snarky and walked away.
My poor baby!!

I vote for “friend”. She looks like one.
Caramel and chocolate means she should be Riesen.
And when you’re looking for a home, you can say, “You need a dog!”
And then the person replies, “Gimme one good Riesen.”
And then you hand the dog over.
Ellie. Or Karat.
It takes a special person to actually stop and help a stray, especially on a busy Interstate.
Since the dog can’t say it, thanks, Jackelope. That was a wonderful thing you did.
“On a busy Interstate”? Luxury! We used to dream of livin’ on the Interstate. Woulda’ been a palace to us. With apologies to the four Yorkshiremen.
Ha! That’s what I named my kitten, because she was snicker-colored (she’s a calico with some tabby stripes). Then I stole it for my moniker.
