Name this tune from late 60s early 70s

I am trying to get the title and artist for a tune I can barely recall, and all the “Lyrics” websites have come up empty. The tune was a story of a guy whose car broke down in the south. He had long hair that he had to tuck up inside his hat. Some “rednecks” started messing with him, so he accused one of the good ole boys of being a “card carrying” commie with a flag in his garage.

The only line I can remember is when this accused guy says “I ain’t even got a garage, you can go and ask my wife.”

The song ends with the hippie driving away, but he does some donuts around the rednecks before speeding off.

Can anyone help me track this tune down…any clues would be appreciated. All this retro stuff, but this song seems to have disappeared!
