Been thinking of the old TV shows I used to watch, and I remember one in particular, but I’ll be damned if I can remember what show it was.
There’s an underground vault with a bunch of gold stored inside. Someone breaks in and steals the lot. However, the secret is the gold wasn’t really stolen
The crooks built a second room along the elevator’s path and rewired it so it would stop at the fake empty vault, which was made up to look like the gold had been stolen. Then, when things died down, they could get access to the actual vault and take out the gold at their leisure. I remember a screen shot looking into the elevator shaft, and how if the elevator had gone down to the real vault floor there would be less cable on the cable spool, but there was a bunch still on it. Therefore, the elevator wasn’t really at the vault.
Yeah, I just watched that episode which got me thinking about it. I have the Banacek series, and I don’t recall seeing it when I rewatched it, and it’s not in the episode guide.
Tried google searching the plot, but came up empty.
Yeah, wondering if that may be it? It had to be one of those 70’s detective shows, but I was never a McCloud fan so I have a hard time believing that’s the one.
Because of this thread, I re-watched a Mission Impossible episode from the fourth season called “The Double Circle” which uses a similar duplicated floor trick. It’s pretty good, and shows that there are no new ideas in Hollywood.
