Have you ever really met someone with the name of Cecil? I’ve only heard this name used in a cartoon.
Well, of course there is the famous sea monster. And I have known several Cecilias and Celias.
Hey, what are you getting at here?
It’s not uncommon. My grandfather, my uncle, and my neighbor are all named Cecil.
Yup…my husband’s boss is a Cecil.
But he sure isn’t THE Cecil
Mr. S has a brother and an uncle named Cecil.
Well, just in the world of baseball, there was slugger Cecil Cooper, and relief pitcher Cecil Upshaw (who had the most unorthodox pitching delivery I’ve ever seen).
my boss is a Cecil.
But then, you are atypical.
I’m sorry, I just couldn’t resist. And, no, I don’t know any Cecils, but I’ve known of at least a few.
I have a great uncle Cecil. He (ahem) used to brew moonshine back in the twenties and thirties. My gradnfather would load it in the car and drive around making deliveries around their area of southwest Tennessee.
I say “ahem” because when I was a tyke in the 70s and 80s and we’d go down to visit I’d help him run copper tubing in exchange for a half a dixie cup of “cough syrup,” and there’s no way in hell that stuff had been aged 50 years.
Many years ago I had a pet rat named Cecil.
Not to mention Cecil Fielder.
