  • for the more ethereal ones

In Wiley’s Non Sequitur daily comic, the cynical little grrl’s name is Danae, which I assume is pronounced about the same as “deny.” Too cool.

Jane Doe, like an unidentified corpse in the morgue. And she should wear a toe tag with that name as a necklace.

It’s classically (Greek) Danaë, which I think is “dannuh-ee.”

Knew a girl with this name when I was in elementary school. She pronounced it Duhnn-ay. I’m not too familiar with Greek, but in Latin that’s basically how it would be pronounced.

All real goths I used to know back in the day:

Octavia
Charlotte
Gabrielle

Corvid (Crows and ravens)
blackbird
starling

Can you tell I follow a bird theme when naming anything?

Also great names for the songs on the album “Treasure” by the Cocteau Twins.

Jezebel

Yeah, I took Aloysius out, and should have taken Ivo out too. My first selection were all Sisters of Mercy/ The Mission songs.

For a smoker (probably of clove ciggies), Nicotina.

Perhaps Perdita (meaning Unwanted One, if I am not mistaken).

Lilith

Sucubus

No Death? Would that be over the top?

My oldest daughter has two middle names; her second middle name is Isis. When she was going through a goth period a couple of years ago, she used that a lot, coupled with the last name of a friend of hers who had died in a car accident.

Anathema (always liked that one–sounds so pretty until you know what it means  )
Verity
